Robin did look good but screwed herself on a blank. Ranger looked better and absolutly stayed out of trouble, treed two coon by himself to win the cast against 3 other GrNites.
I was still proud of Robin and she was flat out husslin trying to win.

I stayed and spectated with Tim on the final cast. They only hunted one hour and I think that Ranger put the pressure on them and the whole thing would have turned to Rangers favor if they had hunted one more hour. Just as time was up,Ranger had got out by himself and was hot on a coon trying to get treed when we caught him.

Timmy and I are takeing a break from the comp hunts for a while and just going to pleasure hunt and work on young hounds.
We will be going to the Bunkhouse hunt and takeing a couple of young dogs. We will be hunting Leggs ( Wacker X Jazz ) and also Hic ( Smoke X Drizz ). I also have Second hand Smoke ( Smoke X Lou ) that we will be singleing out this season . He just turned 5 months old and is a coon mauling machine.

Timmy has been hunting Leggs and Hic and haveing good results.
I went with him last night and we dumped Smoke and Hic on the first dump. They both hit hot at about 100 yrds and took it another 400 where Smoke treed and Hic went on. Smoke had a coon and Hic was 200 yrds farther in. We got to Hic and she was on a big big den tree.
Next dump we cut Leggs and she opened close to the road and worked it back across the road and treed about 1oo yrds from the truck. Leggs had a sow and two kitten coon. Good relaxing night with the dogs doing good.
We have a friend that wants us to come and clean out the coon at his house that are killing all his chickens. Ought to be fun with the young dogs. Might take Second Hand Smoke tonight with the crew.

some of you guy,s need to take advantage of smokes abilities, take your nice females and get some of those wining traits he has proven he obtains, Roy Timmy are as good of people you will meet any where, they don,t biuld thier dogs up and make it sound like they can walk on water, they just hunt them hard and put them in the hunts and let the dogs talk for them selves......Gerald

There are a few Smoke pups that just turned a year old that are running and treeing their own coon right now. We are hunting a female owned by Taylor Kellerman while he is working in Okla. He calls her Smokin Hickory and she is going to make a super nice hound. She has only been to the woods a few times and is naturally split treeing and is just about the fastest track dog I've seen in a while. We are excited to get her through a kill season.

Season starts in two weeks and we are now shut down from hunting as of tonight at midnight till then. Guess I'll have to stay on the Mo. side.

We still have 4 Smoke pups that are about 11-12 weeks old for sale. Two males and two females. All of them are dark good lookin little dudes. They are allready treeing on the side of the pen when the cats get in sight. They are all loud hard barking chop mouth pups. I will get some pics of them in a day or two and post them.

Timmy got called out to go work the storm that hit the east coast. He wiil be in harrisburg Pa. and dispersed from there tomorrow. Hope he can make it back for hunting season. Got to where I depend on him a whole lot anymore.

Got a call from Bill in Wis. and he said that the Smoke pup that Mark has is running and treeing her own coon. They are super excited about her and Bill said they are going to bring her to the Bunk House hunt.

Heard that the female Jay Pingel has has been turnning it on also. Guess she has been going good since she was 5 or 6 months old.

Lucinda from No. Mo. has a male that is running and treeing by his self and can't be bought.

Have two at the house that do it all and don't even know that a coon will fall out of a tree yet.LOL That will change this kill season.

Payed up my $210.00 for Missouri and will hunt over there about as much as we do on the Kansas side. Got to get a few out to the young dogs this winter so we will have something to hunt this next year in the hunts.

Jimmy from Ark. called this morning and his Utchman bred gyp is comming in. He is bringing her up to breed to Smoke.
Jimmy came and hunted with Smoke this spring and liked what he saw. This should be an awsome cross. The Utchman X Smoke cross that is a year old is doing exceptional and these should be no different.

John Samson from Colby, Ks. should be haveing some Smoke pups right befor Christmas. His female is Utchman and Rambo bred. Liked her alot when she was here. She is super dark, big leggy female with a good mouth and good long ear. She looks a lot like my Drizz female that is Utchman bred and Smokes oldest litter is out of. Drizz had 7 pups, one got ran over by a fuel truck and killed and we culled one female. 5 out of the seven are running and treeing and showing a lot of promise.

Barley Ray is really turning it on this coon season.. He got a 28.2 pound coon opening weekend that was ready for a fight, He caught it on the ground and when we got there he was all over it , the whole time his tail was just a wagging. Wish we had time to take him out everynight but with work its hard. He ranges out so far I dont take him by myself anymore ,because I don't really know the area very well where we are at, but we are so proud of him . He is a coon crazy boy just like his daddy was. I think the older he gets the more he looks like OLe Rooster. Berda is coming around too . She did not like Brian with a beard though. He wound up shaving it where she would allow him in the house . Can't wait to make that cross... We will see you at the reunion this year if the Lord is willing.

Keep him in the woods and keep me posted. His daddy had no reverse either but we treed a ton of coon with him. Alot of times I would turn him out and have to drive the truck around the section just to get close. He always had the meat. Most accurate hound I ever hunted.
Is Berda show pretty? I really liked her. Had an attitude but she was special. Ought to be an awsome cross between her and Barley. Has she been to the woods Yet?

from work. This sucks, go to work in the dark and come home in the dark.

Timmy is working some where in Pa. and it looks like he will be out there for quite a while . He might be moved closer to the east coast yet. He said he has been working claims on some dairy's. I asked him about the coon hunting and he said the mountains are way to tall for us flat landers.LOL

Getting geard up for hunting after this weekend. Our over time should be over by Sunday and I can get back to a normal life again. Been working 10 to 12 hours a day 7 days a week for the last 9 weeks. Worked a 101 day outage ( 7 days a week, 10 hours a day )this past summer and I'm getting tired. Looking to take some time off and COON HUNT!

Can't hardley wait till the Bunkhouse hunt THANKSGIVING weekend. Will see a lot of friends and meet some new ones.
Planning on hunting Ole Smoke and a couple of youngsters.

has been sent to NY to work claims. Lots of damage from Sandy, he will be there a while. I'm going to miss him alot this season. Just about have too many dogs to hunt by my self.

Met up with Scott Brown last night and he is going to hunt Lou for us this winter and use her to help train his Smoke pup. Scott has a Smoke X Drizz male pup that is a year old. Scott said that the pup is more than ready to go to the woods. Guess he is giveing the cats heck.

First dog I ever had that will hold her own tail up on the bench. One thing about Ole Barley if he trees there is a coon there but he has also caught three on the ground this season.

Vickey, Hey tell Brian hi for me. Good to hear about Berda. I allways thought she was a super pretty little female. She's bred to hate coon.

Barley has the run to catch bred into him. His sire was the same way and all of his top side were hard running track driving dogs. They were tree dogs first but they didn't boo hoo around on any tracks either. Iv'e tried to keep that bred in my hounds ever since Tim Vaughn and I owned the ole Dual Grand Rooster dog. We made some really good crosses that produces a run to catch tree dog.
Keep them in the coon and I hope to see you guys this spring.

Jimmy, Jane should cross super good with Smoke. So far I like the Utchman cross back on Smokey river and Mad Dog. These pups crossed like this that we are hunting this kill season are showing super promise towards being the next generation of compition dogs in our kennels.
