Took leggs to higginsville Fr iday night. She didn't perform as good as I would like the first part of the hunt but on the last dump the other three dogs were treed on a slick (2 votes to minus 2 votes to circle). And she was 750 yds away treed with a coon. If they would've minused the tree she would've won the cast. But that made my night. This young female is getting more and more independent. She'll be nice when she's finished. We took smoke and Robin out tonight and treed a couple. Getting ready for federation finals.

The Missouri Coon hunters Federation Invitational Finals is at Cole Camp. 80 dogs are qualified from 8 zones. Both Smoke and Robin are qualified and we are going to give it our best shot.

Neither one of us did any good. Timmy just couldn't catch a break and I couldn't hear because of the wind.

Have one more hunt this weekend with Robin which is the Missouri Zone Shootout. Top two dogs from each of the 8 zones will hunt.

The guys that bought pups have been comming and the pup pen is going down in number.

Still have a couple of pups out of Smoke and Pearl not spoken for. We have two really good looken females left and two males. These pups are performance nominated.

No blues that I know of made the cut. Had 4 dead cast that came in.

Gerald, yea sometimes it just comes down to lady luck.

Leggs is out of GrNt Wacker X GrNtCh Jazz. She is looking real good and will be a tuff contender. This years kill season should put her to the top of her game. Timmy might put her in one more hunt this comming weekend and then we will just hunt her hard this winter.

If we can get everyone together this December and copy what the Missouri boys have we will be in tall cotton.

The Missouri Coon Hunters Asso. is I think one of the best set ups for the hunter any where around. All the money goes back to the hunters and they have some awsome prize packages.

This year for thier finals they gave away Owens dog boxes to the 1st thru 4th place, Garmin 320 with collar to 1st and 2nd place and garmin collar to 3rd and 4th. Final four hunting jackets for all four places. Banshee coon squallers for all 4. 12 bags of dog food to 1st, 9 bags to 2nd, 5 bags to 3rd, and 4 bags to 4th. Plus all 4 places got cash also. Pretty good incentive to hit all thier hunts to qualify.

Hope we can get the Kansas boys all together to put the federation back together.

when I moved to Kansas I could only make it 5 miles across the line. That way I could stay close to home. lol This way I have a winner during football and basketball season.

Keith, got you on the list buddy.

John Samson from Colby, ks. came to pick up Clair who was bred to Smoke. We went out for hunt with ole Smoke and he did his thing and showed us some coon.

Timmy went to the plot sectional and had a terrible night. His guide dumped them within 1/2 mile of a 4 lane hwy the first dump. The guides dog treed a possum and tried to convince everybody it was a coon. Then on the last dump he cast them within 1/2 mile of town where Leggs treed on the edge of town in a guys back yard ( big ole den tree ). Just one of those nights where things went from bad to worse.

Robin and I are headed to the Missouri Zone Championship to night. Robin and Tim Vaughns Ranger dog (1/2 bro and sister) are two of 16 dogs that qualified this year for the hunt. Hope one or both of us make the final 4 in the late round tonight.
