Grammatical and spelling errors aside and with all do respect are you sure you "use everything I can?" Contrary to your statement about my ego, back, head and my position in the Universe I am as committed to breeding a better Bluetick hound and encouraging others to do so that we all benefit from better hounds. I am guilty of using ridicule and satire to motivate people to think, educate themselves and ultimately do better.

If breeding good dogs was easy we would be home free. Where we are weakest is in the practical application of how genetics works. I am determined not to be the weakest link in my chain.

If your assessment of me is correct then that is a shoe I will have to wear. I'm not against you and wish you continued success. If you will look back over some of your statements perhaps you will see that all are not grounded in facts.

Good luck everybody!

You could go on and on and you would have the same outcome. Would have, Could have, Should have but the bottom line is the facts. I look at the number of pups and percentages and last but not least did the ones that made the high percentage come out of one or two crosses or numerous crosses, the one with numerous crosses shows me more on what type of reproducer he really was.

Everyone has their own thought , these our mine!

Very good Corey. Building on that try to intensify the qualities you are after while simultaneously producing good quality pups throughout the entire litter. Please also bear in mind that an individual may produce a greater percentage of pups that make it by selecting and breeding to similar bred bitches that are of superior quality. An example; Bess III (Yarborough's Bess) was bred to a good dog and the litter just did not have it. She was later bred to Jet 6 and produced a phenomenal litter. All three pups have really made their mark as coon dogs and as reproducers-Jet 7, Iron Will and last but not least Hanna. If Bess had not been bred again after her first litter she would have been labeled a non producer. The dog she was bred to the first time did reproduce well off other females.

There are countless examples like these throughout the history of our breed. Never lock in to just one way of thinking, be honest with yourself and learn as much as possible. One of the best ways is by hunting with as many dogs and people as possible. By doing so you will either cement your opinion about your dogs or be open to the possibility of trying and needing something else in your pen to compliment what you already have.

I like Jiff peanut butter. That makes me a choosy Mother.

My grammar, spelling and how things are worded really ain't much concern to me.....didn't make it past 9th grade because I had to work instead...not your problem but also not my concern.....clearly you have no problems understanding what I post.....

You can use ridicule and satire to try to encourage me to think your way.....not sure how that will work out for you since I've got pretty thick skin and just because I read it on the Ukc msg board don't mean there's an ounce of truth to it or anything I need to believe....I believe nothing I hear and only half of what I see....one of the first things I learned when I came into the coon hound world is 99% of coon hunters will tell you and drive into you what they believe and what they want you to believe.....I allways found it confusing how anybody can seem to believe there beliefs, thaughts and opinions are the way things are....they've all been there done that and no how it all works so there way is the right way and they'll drive that into any weak minded person they can drive it into......I'm not weak minded enough for that garbage....I studied! I listened...I picked threw the BS I hunted..picked threw more bs.I studied more...I traveled.picked threw more bs...hunted traveled and kept on over and over again...I'm very capable of creating my own thaughts experiences and opinions.....never really been one to ride anyone's coat tail and never been much of a follower.....

I'm in no way a breeder....never will be.....don't want to be....but I am smart enough to have figured out if at any point I don't have the amount of dog power that I demand in my kennel than I'm not going in the right direction and need to re think my thaughts and what I have bred because if I'm not moving forward and allways having the right kind that I expect than clearly what I've been doing is wrong...I only breed for one person....and don't breed to ANY name or line or anything other than pure ability....I've spent many nights in the woods all over with ALL of the difrent bluetick lines with multiple dogs of them and formed my own opinion of common traits weather good or bad.....
I have no urge to be somebody! I have no urge to force my thaughts on anybody only thing I am hear for is to do whatever it takes to be able to put the kinda dog on my lead that I am confident in cutting any timber any where any condition against any dog and not only just compete but beat the others and to enjoy on our regular solo nights in the timber!

One thing I've learned in life is if you want something go get it....🖕🏻 To anybody trying to hold you back and anybody that stands in your way and to anybody that allready has all the answers!

When I think of reproducing the first thing I think of is the UKC reproducers list.....UKC has done a lot of the numbers work allready......no I don't use it as a bible but a good starting point.....use the #1 reproducing female right now......that's a simple one for me.....I've hunted many of nights with her....I look at the numbers......she's holding a pretty impressive percentage.....is the dog part of one of these "bluetick cliques"? Nope that she's not....it a hard hunting man and his dad that have most to do with her and also the many people with no ties to her that have started, hunted and titled the pups......to me this dog combined with I believe one of the highest bluetick percentages ever (that I've personally noticed) to me that right there is a true reproducer and true hounds man doing there homework with there eyes WIDE open to produce coondogs.....those are the types of people I will keep my eyes on maybe pick up a few new ideas and thaughts.....but one thing I've noticed is I haven't seen them make one post telling people what to think or believe! Those types of people are breeders.....those types of people that work there backside off to continually produce winning pups cross after cross are the people we should all be taking lessons from.....I have no ties to them of any kind were aquantinces at hunts and That's it.....but nobody has to give a dam what I think and don't expect them to....this is nothing at all more than just MY OPINION......anybody can take it how they want just as I do when I'm reading this stuff.....you won't get another response hear from me!

Well this should be the last for me on this as well. I don't think any one is interested in what we have said and little or nothing was accomplished, wasted time and words. I said get you to think ( not my way), educate your self and so you could ultimately do better. What was wrong with that? Food for thought, I do not expect an answer.

Thinking back over the many good men who helped me and let me pick their brains, I will forever be in their debt-Elbert Vaughn, Ed Meeks, Joe B Reddon, Warren Haslouer, Bo Bellflower, Marvil Hill, Delma Smith, my Great Uncle who took me on his shoulders in the 1950's and John C Carter. Many of these men were charter members of our breed associations. These are just a few of the ones I have hunted with and spent countless hours talking about hunting and breeding Blueticks with.

Many people giving out breeding advice do not have much if any experience and even less success. Evoke our 1st amendment rights to express our own opinions. Good luck, you might be successful in spite of yourself. Good dogs can do that for a man, they have for me.

As of October 31st, 2001

#of pups 141, Grand Nights 6 and Night Champions 17 for a percentage of 16.3%. This percentage was achieved when there were a lot more dogs at the hunts and it was harder to title a dog.

The walker guys are nowhere near as cliquish as blue guys a Walker man May not like you but if you have a stud that can better his program and get him winners that's all he cares about
