Great news

I spent all week last week dialing in our hounds for the Lancaster RQE... My hunting partner Zac Kea hasn't been able to hit the woods in several weeks, so it's just be me, myself, and I out getting the hounds ready. Luckily enough for us, Fatty had dried up enough to where we thought it'd be safe to hunt her and get her ready.

I hunted her and Ginny pretty hard last week. Each of the four nights she went, she progressively got better and better.

Zac and I made the journey to Lancaster, South Carolina on Saturday afternoon. It was a heap cooler there than home, so we were optimistic about the coon moving a littler better there then at home.

I drew a decent cast of folks and dogs, and an especially tough English female named Swamp Suki. Ginny got in there around 500 yards and got hooked while Suki was hooked the oppisite direction around seven tenths of a mile.

Ginny was holding a 3rd and a 1st and the other two dogs covered her. We scored the tree circle. She'd treed on a broke off tree with what looked like a pretty frequently used hollow in the side about 20 ft up. No coon could be seen.

At that point, we were leash locked and went to Suki. She was treed on tree of Small stature, but had the biggest coon in Lancaster county hanging form the top.

So now we're behind a whole coon. The rest of the night we spent recasting into the same woods we'd covered. litterally... ALL. NIGHT. LONG. I wasn't real happy, but there wasn't a thing I could do. Ginny did her part, but it just wasn't good enough this time.

That ended up being the only coon we looked at and only made one other tree in the two hours. (SUKI had gotten treed on a pine).

Zac however had a bit of different luck. Fatty slammed a coon with a 1st and a 1st on the first drop and was sitting pretty winning the cast with +225. She slamed another circle tree after that and they got recasteed.

All the dogs piled up together treed once more and he took a third tree. They were only there for a few seconds when all dogs peeled out and left the tree. -50.

Zac was holding 75 stirke when Fatty rolled up treed again not far from where they left. He held off and let another dog tree first and took 2nd tree. (the third dog didn't cover).

They got to the tree and found it to be broken off with the top of the tree lying on the ground beside it. It had a few vines tied to it, but the cast voted to Minus it. -150.

The hunted shortly concluded after that and Zac and Fatty came away with +25 and the CW.

That win gave fatty the last win she needed to finish to GrNtCh and qualified her for the 2016 World hunt. I'm super excited to get the opportunity to go to the Zones this year and I know Zac is too.

I'd like to thank Zac for allowing me to be here from the beginning and help build Fatty to what she is today. We spent countless hours in the woods behind her, and we are proud to call her ours.

In other news....

My good buddy, John Shuman and myself have partnered up on his newest purchase Dual Grand Campus Creek Boater. Boater placed 4th in the UKC World back in 2013 and is shaping up to be a reproducer. Boat has 44 pups on the ground, 4 NiteCh, and 4 with wins..

The goal is to breed him to our females and the females of the public, and attempt to get him on the reproducer's list.

If you're insterested in knowing more about Boater, Please give me or John Shuman a call.

Thanks for reading folks, We'll keep you posted as much as we can!

The Breaks

thanks bud! Truth is I just showed up for the party, you did all the setting up. I appreciate you knocking the rust off the old girl last week.

Truth be told we wouldn't be here without your contribution. Thanks for keeping a fire lit under both of us.

Let's get ready for the next wave!
