We are having an extra exciting season this year. Flo is 11 and going like she is still three. I didn't think I would get another one like her. Teak is 2 now and is as close carbon copy to her in the woods as I could hope for and Jackson is her litter mate brother and is a dandy too.

Teak

Well last night made 6 nights in a row, kinda surprised myself about that! Proud also HA HA ! Took little year old female Speck it was her turn to go again. Thursday she had 2 singles but the first one was 1.2 miles from truck, I drove to that one. Some reason we just cant get a coon in that woods, may need to hit it late some night. Second drop ended at around 400 yds from where cut with a coon. Now last night was much different, Went with Bill and Tommy again and we took Bills Jake dog and I took Speck. We ended up with 6 tracks, of those each dog had 2 splits with coon, Jake had a split den and Speck had one run to a barn. Great hunt! Taking a break to be with my wife and grand children this weekend.

sacket and liquid smoke. he does a great job most of time. I mostly hunt him 5 nts a wk. try to hunt the others a little. I have some half litter mates. 2.5 yrs . nice dogs and very smart. took him last nt for 1 dump. he treed went in knocked it out. I walked away and called him to come he walked off went bout 25 yrds started treeing again. went to him knocked it out called him he left it he went bout maybe 25 yrds treed again! now iam thinking crazy dog! go in he has another. LOL! but since season came in I have seen him do that quite often. he just knows when there more coon around. nothing you can teach them its something breed into them. the sire is same way. and the half littermates also.

I have 3 more here that did same. hes not the only one. now it is shared with the rest!!! LOL

anyone been out? I've went the last 4 nights the earliest I turned loose was 9:30, mostly going out after midnight and had some good hunts. With it being so warm I don't think coon have been moving real good. Last night treed the first one .71 miles from the truck, 2nd dump was .64 and the 3rd was just under 900 yds. to say the least I was soaked with sweat. Went with Scott Oney other night and treed a couple, and made a den, he has a nice female pup out of his Dan dog that's gonna be a good one!

Went out last night about 9:30 turned my young male out in a woods that's one mile long, he went right down the middle of it and never pulled a bark, crossed the next road and struck and treed with a coon hanging. I don't think them ole coon are liking this warm weather. Going tonight with Scott and Cliff Oney hope he don't blow out of the country again. Makes me nervous when he gets out of the pocket, and he doesn't run trash and he is wide open on track. And I haven't seen any coon sitting up either

Me and the Oney Boy's had a nice hunt last night, turned out after 9:00, treed one quick and left it alone, turned back and my young dog got in there a ways and treed another, shot it out to the pups and gave them alittle training lesson, turned back and got a den, and put one in the ground and called it a night. Had some fun as usual. Taking tonight off to play cards and have some adult refreshments!!!

I have been having some nights of not getting a bark. Dogs have been putting a lot of miles on their Garmin collars and I need to do some retrieval training. Even the older dogs are not getting much going. I can only hunt early and have to home around 11 or so. Don't know what is happening after midnight. I have been driving around and picking up the young dogs and that is starting to worry me with the roads we have here.

We had an extra great night last night which was much needed after a bout with our last hunt producing 8 slick trees. I hadn't honestly seen more than 2 slick trees all season and then 8 in one night. Whats up with that, dogs never seem to cease to amaze me. Then they turn around and make you wonder how did they do some of the miraculous work they do. Anyway have you guys hit any rut tracks yet. Before the bad weather set in and it was crazy Florida x-mass full moon warm in Ohio we struck an old bad one off a den down in a big spring water bottom. It heated up a little about 400 yards further up on the top of the hill and got #1. Then they got deep and hit another one off a den and holly wow did they run that thing a long way. Unfortunately it ended on a den. Then the young dog who is in the process of fine tuning treed one cast alone in a tornado briar thicket like I can't remember crawling through before. Took her about 20 minutes in thicket and hard rain to run it 70 yards but she had it. It was really cool because she could wind it and knew it was up. She really did good locating it. At first she wanted to tree on lay downs because she could wind it but could barely get through the mess. We could see the coon as she finished working it out in a big old tree. The storm was getting so bad the coon was running around the tree top trying to figure out how to get out of the weather.

Way to go my friend. That is sure one nice pup for just turning 8 months old. That sure is a lot of trees to have to walk to if you were still living down here in these hills, LOL. Down here I would have had to quit after tree number 6 or 7.

My ole legs must be getting shorter every day as it seems like it gets harder all the time to make it up and down these hills.

I couldn't imagine hunting in that type coon population all the time. Take care Carson.

most of those hole coon are flooded out, we got some corn piles out for deer hunting with cameras over them, got a lot of coon pictures and one coon as big as a bear cub that runs the deer off except when a good buck comes in the coon gives the corn up. Got 7 coon at once on one pile and near about the same time got 5 on the other. I ain't got a dog that will stay in a 20 acre patch for more than a couple dumps. I'm going to have to take some coon out of there, its getting expensive dumping 100# of corn a week in each spot.

let me know I can solve that prob for ya. I can keep my dogs in a 20 acre patch until sun rises. or let them blow out to another zipp code. broke all the rules with these dogs they arnt suppose to do this. Don't have a all grand ped or the sire hasn't won 100k dollars. Dang it!! LOL
