My whole family would go to my great aunt Dasy's house once a year for a buckwheat cake dinner. Aunt Dasy made the best sour buckwheat cakes I've ever had "buddy they were SOUR". She'd have a big skillet full of puddin meat setting on the stove, we'd spread the puddin meat over top the cakes throw an egg or two on top then poor maple syrup (real maple syrup not Aunt Jamima) over everything.
I still eat buckwheat cakes all the time, I even have my own starter recipe (I don't keep it active) and every once in a blue moon I still get my hands on some puddin but I haven't had a meal like it used to be at aunt Dasy's since.
