Floyd

I have seen the Floyd dog go that Timmy Dale posted. He has a huge mouth, good nose, and don't care to hunt. All the right tools needed to get it done where we live. I'd bet money he be one tough dog to clean up after after this upcoming coon season in the fall!!!!

Just got in from hunting with Floyd and Timmy Dale. We made 3 drops tuned Floyd with my male out of hollycreek smokey X hollycreek Katie. 1st drop both treed coon seen. 2nd drop both split treed mine was on a huge layover and Floyd was 50 yard away on a tall poplar didn't spot anything on both. 3rd drop treed together and coon seen. Some real dog work tonight. Floyd is well on his way to being a dandy. I will post a video of Floyd from his split tree. Video is the tiny pic click to watch

The wife hunted catfish tonite. I sat at the truck havin a bum knee. I havent been in the woods for atleast a month and half. But for me not bein able to get him out, he didnt really disappoint me. Only a 3 dog cast. First drop 2 dogs tree together. Catfish splits 60 yards from them. They get a circle. Catfish gets the meat. 175+. Second drop they all blow up together on a big hemlock. Circle. They walk, i thought personally wasent that far enough, away from tree and cut em. Then something confusin happens apparently lol or atleast to me. But i couldnt tell from truck i just caught the story. But all 3 dogs get treed split like 20 feet apart. Catfish by himself walker and bnt together again. And either all the dogs left theyre tree or just catfish and the walker. Walker minused out in whatever it was doin. Catfish left his tree went to theyres barked twice and went back to his. He ended up gettin like minus 300. Cause both trees ended up bein slick. Which suprised me cause that aint him. I still wonder if only walkin like 70 yards away had somethin to do wit it. Cause catfish went back to that last circled tree, but didnt tree back on it, and looped down and round from it to those slicks. 3rd drop just the 2 dogs now. Bnt pulls treed. Catfish was at the tree located but continued to move the track another 150 yards before time ran out and wife called him in. Bnt had circle on that one. Think it ended up bein walker minusin out. Bnt 150- catfish 125-. O well. Still fun cast. Got to sit at the truck wit the older fella. And they had 2 spectators. Kid on his second hunt. And a guy wantin to get back into it.

FLOYD

Seems to me Floyd improves each trip. He has the right men hunting him for sure. And he's doing a real good job getting it done here in SouthEast KY. And if a dog can get it done here in these steep mountains and thin coon. Then it can tree one anywhere !!!

Mr Overstreet

Just thought id post these pics of the grandfather to your Floyd. The Lucifer dog (sire of Lucy). I cant help but see a strong resemblence to Floyd. Sory about them being black and white. It wasnt that long ago but there just some pics my wife had blown up and and off colored for sumthin different. She was very attached to him and one of the few she ever got mad at me for selling. He wasnt perfect and he had his holes but he was an accurate coon treeer without a dought. Anyways just thought you might like.

Solid northern is Paul Currie up here in ontario. Started with a foundation from wilmoths solid rock and old hammer blood and built on that and was very succesful at it. Common traits were accurate track drivers and wasnt uncommon for them tree coon behind other dogs that they had run past. Two bit is Fred Holub in ohio. He crossed paths with Paul years ago and they worked together with dogs and crosses since. Jackson (lucifers sire) came right from harry darbys. He was pick pup Fred got after one of his females he had bred didnt catch. I only hunted with him a couple times when he was old but im told in his prime he didnt miss and would never cover a dog. Both Fred and Paul can give you alot more info than i can on this line of dogs. Im just lucky enuff to have become good friends with them and have enjoyed many nights in the woods as a result of there hard work before my time.

Do a search on stud board for "solid northern two bit tide"

There is several pages on that thread that can fill you in a little more on some of those dogs.

Mr. Currie I see the traits in Floyd that Luke talks about you and Mr. Holub breed for , found the star female in Ginny's ped. seems this litter goes back to several of the Early Hammer Dogs. Was Wilmoth's Solid Rock out of Ennis blue Snow and Vaughn bred Female?

See you're still around Paul, hope things are going well with you.
I got to hunt with Homer Searles ole Becky female. I believe she was out of Star. I loved her and Homer too, I’m sure you know what I'm talking about. I also had a female directly out of the great Hammer V, loved her.

I don't even follow a coon hound now but have enough memories to fill two lifetimes. Wishing the best to you and that ornery ole Fred!.......Ron

Thanks Ron , all is well . To confirm Ky T.O. you are correct Gr.Nt.Ch. PKC Bronze Ch. Wilmoth's Solid Rock was sired by Ennis Blue Snow who was out of Sebastian's Little Blue and Babe , Rock's dam was Smith's Blue Sky which was Vaughn bred .
