I am sorry to report that Tom had to bury Critter a few months ago. Lost him to cancer. I wish Critter had been bred more. I truly believe he had a lot to offer and could have helped the breed.

The good ones leave this ole world all too quick it seems! I like you would have loved to see the results of more females being bred to Critter. He put some pretty darned nice hounds on the ground from his limited breedings, definitely didn't hurt the breed.
Critter is another prime example of an above average hound & reproducer who was owned by a common man who could not afford to promote one at a National level. Not anybody''s fault, just the way the cookie crumbles. I have been fortunate enough to have been blessed with knowing Tom & James, & to be able to throw some food every day to some potlickers whose origins were spawned from their efforts!
Mr. Woofter, you are correct, ole Brandy is back in there multiple times. I've noticed a lot of these hounds have a very distinct quiver to their locate. James told me that trait came from Brandy. I'd be curious to know if your Ohio Hammer dog or old Hammer V had that trait. Pretty darned neat trait, & mind boggling how it is still showing up multiple generations later!
Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to everyone!
