Majestic,

this was using 16oz of Pyrantel mixture you shared above:
Each Ml of this Mixture contains :
1- 50 mg of Pyrantel Pamoate
2- 50 mg of Praziquantel
3- 0.050 mg of Ivermectin

Ivermectin: Remember only .1 mg per Pound is all that is required for Ivermectin to Control Some GI Parisites "Worms"

I cant find the per ml of mixture using the 32oz of Pyrantel mixture shared on page 1.

My question is: how is the mixture dosage of Ivermectin of 0.05 be effective if the proper dosage of Ivermectin 0.1?

Ivermectin just isn't as effective on worms as these other 2 Meds, so the Ivermectin is only dosed at the level to control and prevent Heart worms ..

Steve how old should pups be before starting on this wormer .
My buddy an myself have been using this wormer for over 6 months only trouble we have now is keeping dogs from getting to fat .

I only use Safe-guard "Goat" Liquid on the little kids from 2-3 week up to 4 months the Switch them over to the mixed wormer ..

What's your thoughts on albendazole (sp) I've seen where a lot if guys mix it with ivermectin just curious

Remember the Dosage is 1 ML per 14 pounds of Dog weight and you can dosage at 1 ml per 10 pounds with no problems and still stay within Merck's Veterinary guidelines .

In a Fresh Clean/Sterile Bottle that can Hold around 24 oz. of liquid add the Entire 16 oz. bottle of Pyrantel Pamoate Suspension.
Add the 6 level Table spoons + 1 Tea spoon of Praziquantel, quantity is 23,500 mg. Add
all the powder to the 24 oz bottle of Pyrantel Pamoate Suspension.
Next Draw off around 2.36 cc/ml of Ivermectin and add that to the Bottle of Mixture .. Shake the Bottle for 3-4 min. Plus shake continence before each dog dosage.

Finished Product:

Each Ml of this Mixture contains :
1- 50 mg of Pyrantel Pamoate
2- 50 mg of Praziquantel
3- 0.050 mg of Ivermectin

Dosage:

Each ml/cc will treat 14 pounds of dog weight . So a 60 pound would receive 4.25 ml/cc of the Mixture ..

This is what I don't understand, maybe I'm missing something, but why do you add the + 1 teaspoon and then then remove 1 teaspoon of power? Why wouldn't just add the 6 tablespoons ?

Glad you Caught that Seeker !! I had copied a older post and modified it .. My Brain is totally fried from Lipitor !! Bad Stuff !!

Thanks, I know what you mean about Lipitor. I was on it for a while and Quit , I told the doc no more so he changed me to Simvastatin, generic for Zocor. At least it only costs about $10 a month. I do know if I would have known I had to keep this body this long, I sure would have taken better care of it when I was young. LOL! Too soon old, to late smart!

Well Seeker I just quit my 3rd Statin Drug !!! My Body hurt so bad yesterday I could hardly get out of bed !! Lipitor made me so confused that I have almost lost my Job, plus my Hips and knees ached all the time .. The one I quit yesterday was Pravastatin (Pravastatin) at is lowest dosage .. Felt like knifes in my Back ..

I had 2 stents put in the left side of my heart and the right side is 85% blocked and they were trying with Meds to reduce that one ..

It hell getting old !! lol

Steve just wondering if you've done any research on valbazen? Looks like you've done a lot of research on wormers. I've used safe-guard ivermectin for years started having problems this past spring with tapes so switched to valbazen and ivomec and plan to mix your wormer soon just curious what your thoughts were on valbazen

Yes I have compared valbazen (Albendazole), and found that it in the same family as Praziquantel

The only difference is the Cost to make this mixture and dosage per dog in Much less then Valbazen

The Actual Dosage Required For Canine Tape worm and others is VERY hard to Find ..

Merck Vet Manual does not state the Dosage for Canine worming ..

But I did find this one ..

And I would Guess it could be as high as 8-10mg per pound .

Valbazen contains 113 mg per ml .

So one ml should treat around 10-12 pounds of dog weight and MUST be given over a 3 day period and Repeated two week later.

Cost is about $40 per 500 ml so about $0.08 per ml .

to dose a 60 lb dog over 3 days is = $1.44 .. Not bad but still need Heart worm protection ..

How to use Albendazole

Albendazole dosage for dogs:

For Filaroides hirthi infections:

a) 50 mg/kg q12h PO for 5 days; repeat in 21 days. Clinical signs may suddenly worsen during therapy, presumably due to a reaction to worm death. ()

b) 25 mg/kg PO q12h for 5 days; may repeat in 2 weeks (also for Oslerus osleri) ()

For Filaroides osleri (also known as Oslerus osleri) infections:

a) 9.5 mg/kg for 55 days or 25 mg/kg PO twice daily for 5 days.

Repeat therapy in 2 weeks. ()

For Capillaria plica:

a) 50 mg/kg q12h for 10-14 days. May cause anorexia. ()

For Paragonimus kellicotti:

a) 50 mg/kg PO per day for 21 days ()

b) 30 mg/kg once daily for 12 days ()

c) 25 mg/kg PO q12h for 14 days ()

For Giardia:

a) 25 mg/kg PO q12h for 4 doses ()

b) 25 mg/kg PO twice daily for 5 days ()

c) 25 mg/kg PO twice daily for 2- 5 days ()

For Leishmaniasis:

a) 10 mg/kg PO once daily for 30 days or 5 mg/kg PO q6h for 60 days ()

Albendazole dosage for cats:

For Paragonimus kellicotti:

a) 50 mg/kg PO per day for 21 days ()

b) 25 mg/kg PO q12h for 10-21 days ()

c) 30 mg/kg once a day for 6 days ()

d) 25 mg/kg PO q12h for 14 days ()

For Giardia:

a) 25 mg/kg PO twice daily for 5 days ()

b) 25 mg/kg PO q12h for 3-5 days; may cause bone marrow suppression in dogs and cats. ()

8 oz (one cup ) pyrantel pamoate.
3 tablespoons plus 1/2 teaspoon of praziquantel.
1.18 cc Ivermectin.

Anyone right or wrong?

The way I figured it would still be 1cc for 14 pounds of dog.
The same amounts of each wormer as in the larger mixture.
Total weight of dog divided by 14.
60# dog 4.25cc/ml
