Faith and works

We are justified to God through faith. We are justified before other men through works. Our works and words are to draw other people to come to Jesus.

So we do not need works? I've heard different thoughts on this matter.

Yes

We need to works to show others how Jesus has changed our lives. The whole book of James tells us how to live as Christians including works, not judging others, and taming our tongues. Our commission is to spread the Gospel of Jesus and this can only be done with a true change in us.

i think

it's very traditional. At least church services are. We have three hymns a message and go home. We have completely scheduled The Holy Spirit out of our services. Another problem that I have is Young couples say 19-45 years old. My heart is for them. They don't want to come and then when they do, the older people don't want them there and don't offer anything for them. I am 36 and started going to church as a young adult. The sermons that are being preached today for the most part are holding us to LAW not about living under GRACE. So a young person or couple comes in. They hear everything that we as Christians can't do. you hear you can't go here or there you can't do this or that anymore but Jesus loves you will you accept him today? then they are dismissed and sent home. The Gospel is parked at the Cross. We aren't being taught that we can never live up to those laws. They couldn't then (need for a sacrifice) and we can't today (Jesus the ultimate sacrifice). They come a few times maybe even a year they stumble in their walk. Noone helps teach or explain that a Christian walk is Grown in Maturity over time. I remember looking at older guys in the church and wondering how did they get that walk with God. Where am I going wrong. Nobody taught me about maturity and learning. I have stumbled, backslid or whatever you want to call it. I just knew that I wasn't what I thought a Christian should be or even something that I thought I should be. So I quit going to church. Finally it was like a revelation to me that I can't be perfect and Jesus paid a debt that I can never pay for myself. I know people that judge others in the church when we should be loving and encouraging each other. Its time for us to spread the Gospel, Live it , and show others that you can never be perfect but you are forgiven.

U seem to have too much of a focus on what is being said to Jews and not what is being said to Christians, Everything in the New testament is mint for Christian believers, be it Jew or Gentile.
James ministry to be Fair more focused on his Jewish people, but never does the scripture imply his words were for the Jew only. he greeted the Jews out of respect more that Directly. to say his words did not apply to the Gentile would negate, all of chapter 5
Paul said I will show u my faith by my works , he simply means if you have faith works will follow, not that works make you Holy, only that works will come with The right kind of faith.
Jesus Said These Signs shall Follow them that Believe.........

They are out there

Not all Pastors preach sraight law even though thats what we are taught. Look around and you can find a congregation that suits you . Seems so many are looking for a reason to not go to Lords house . Find your place under the Son and when you do open up an Worship . Every sermon prepared doesnt relate to everyone buf The Gospel MUST BE OFFERED or we arent doing our job as sheppards . Sunday we looked at the wedding and how it relates to today and so many arent willing to come even though its all there for the bad and good . Remember one thing as Pastors we have 20-30 minutes a week on an average of 25 times a year to try to plant the seeds of the word of God into hearts . Rember one thing as Pastor we are held accountable for everyone we preach to young and old an it is very difficult to find a perfect balance . Do as King David did instead of raising a "hand " against Gods annointed PRAY AND PLACE IT AT THE ALTAR OF THE LORD !

I have

Been called to preach. I am currently preaching to a small congregation of about 35. Both young and older. I am doing my best to preach Grace. I agree it's hard to find that balance. I have been blessed to have a congregation that's hungry for the word and wants to work. We try not to be so scheduled in our services. We only have Sunday morning and Wednesday night right now. I don't preach for pay, God has provided me a job. I hope one day that he will bless me in full time ministry. I am working to get completely debt free and at the end of this year hope to be. I think he has called me to preach and evangelize and spread the truth that I have been awakened to. I believe that our churches need to be awakened to the truth and taught how to teach it. They need to get over tradition and sitting in the same pew same spot service after service. It's time to get off the seat of do nothing and get to the Lords work.

The whole counsel of God's word! Too many individual church groups want to have all grace, all prosperity, law and condemnation only. They forget that all of those things go together, and that still is not all of it. We as preachers and pastors need to preach all of it, not just the "smooth things" we are all held accountable for those things that we teach.

Ephesians 4.
