breeder hunt

most these days seem to form an opinion (of lines) after being exposed to one or two hounds that have old so and so somewhere in the 3 gen. pedigree..

it would be interesting indeed to have a breeders hunt where to participate one would need enter for example 3 hounds that came from different crosses made by the same individual breeder---wonder how many so called top breeders out there could even meet that criteria let alone have 3 top cooners on display.

"INTERSTING"

Reading as these things usually go. Everybody is worried 'bout "WINNIN & WINNIN & WINNIN" some more. Lot more to these dawgs that slappin yourself on the back & grinnin in pictures.

"I" have never worried about it. "We",my son's & I, do however work on the kind we enjoy night in & night out. Monday night,tuesday...wendsday... Just so happens it's the same we may take on friday & saturday.

Deffinately not the only thing or the main thing to even concern ourselves with is the number of flashy win's by others or our own. Go when we can,pay the fee & go home afterwards with or without win slips & like it,regardless..

I have said this before, but,I went through 27 female pups in 6 yrs to find the two potential outcross models I wanted that I felt could maybe compliment the direction we want'ta go. Coincidently both have similar ancestors, just the way it worked out. Raised everyone from lil puppies just cuz thats how I prefer'ta do it.

We been makin outcross' with several different "Outside of the box" intentions. Not alot, just select models that are known & proven'ta be of similar traits in our long term goal.

NOW,as far as what line? As you can tell there's 100 different answers to that question. Everybody has what you want till you hunt with'um. Can tell you I been majorly dissapointed when I've witnessed Hype with a pile of so called stem winders. Also been very impressed by some ya never heard of.

We all like it different,no matter what it is in life. Set your sights & go huntin with your choices. Best way really but not always feasable I understand. I tend'ta trust certain peoples veiw of these critters from all over the country so personally I do take it all into consideration.

Unfortunately, history has proven your not gona get the answer's your lookin for by askin the general public on here cuz every time it turns into a p!$$!n match & your original post is forgottin.

Best of luck to ya & hope ya find the one ya want. I been tryin for 35 yrs & forsee havin'ta do it for another 35 yrs.... Sooner or later ya would think......

heres the thing to me, the foundation has already been laid, so wether you have have hunted for 1 year or 30 years you shuld be able to go get a dog and take it to the hunts in start winning from day 1, and be on pretty equal footing.

imo, if we want to start winning constitanlty on the biggest stage, we need more bluetickers that want to win more than they want a line. i got way too bogged down in tryng to breed dogs, would have been alot further ahead wins wise, if i would have concentrated just on takign one dog and going hunting. to each its own, but this is my opinion of the type of hunters that will get us the numbers to compete at the world and such. not saying we all have to be in it for the same reasons, but we need to let new bluetickers know its fine not to want to be a breeder or have your own line, and just focus on winning in the hunts.

this is meant to maybe stir up a little pride in our houndsmen and maybe awaken them to the fact that when we hold our bluetick gatherings as a whole we dont fare very well--lot of times 100 entries maybe, maybe half dozen blue cast winners.........no hiding behind the low percentage minority theory here.

most of us that put the time and effort into raising hounds or anything else for that matter are prideful folk--i dont believe for a minute that when those dogs get entered and the money put down, that the intention to win isnt what drives us.......but maybe thats just me cause brother i am not happy with coming up empty.

i too love the comradery and seeing fellow hunters share stories of the best one they ever had but that 2 hours will be spent with me doing my best not to make ole blue look bad lol dont always work out but we try HARD.......

LINE KILLERS

Money buys the occasional superstar that pops up in successful breeding programs..........promotes him as the next messiah of the hound dog world with no understanding of the need for that good average litter or maintaining the base foundation that produced his fine hound.........buys 20 (top females).........sell all them pups with more times than not subpar averages when compared back to the foundation breeder...........sours average joe,who expects superstar as advertised in their first weanling pup..........average joe wants no more to do with any of the dogs as far as he can see back on superstars paperwork.
