There are a lot of interesting opinions on this topic...and you know what they say about opinions...this is just mine. It's not just about getting your money back to cover raising the pup. It costs quite a bit of cash to have coondogs and hunt them (gas, time, feed, vet, vaccines, medical expenses, feed, quality housing, entry fees, and I'm sure tons else that I am overlooking at the moment), and that's just to own A dog. If that dog has puppies you have additional expenses (possibly a couple vet visits, vitamins, higher quality food, milk replacement, stud fees, travel, puppy food, extra time caring for pups, and if you get a pup from a quality person they'll work with the pups before you even getting them). Yes, I agree, on the surface it looks like prices for pups is crazy, but when you get right down to it, a pup out of a quality line with a good reputation, from someone who has taken exceptional care of their momma and them, who has infested countless hours, is well worth it, and if you think about it, is probably worth a lot more. I agree with those that have said its a risky investment, but any dog is a risky investment.
