I started breeding hounds because I want a better MULTI-PURPOSE hound. It is hard to find a good hound and even harder to find a good Multi-purpose hound. Why do I breed hounds? I love English hounds. It doesn't make me money because everything is to high. I want a better hound than I have now and in order to get it someone has to breed it. I am just trying to be the breeder of them. Now if you are happy with what you are hunting keep on hunting them. I you want to try for a better one lets do it together. We need each other and every English men to work together. Sorry I forgot about the women we will need.

Please give the man a chance to state his op. Everyone has a op. This is what makes our BREED so much fun. It is realty hard to judge what a man types. Most of the time it just came out wrong when he typed it. I have people take things wrong that I type. You do your best and please who you can and the rest will still have their ops. The main thing is to keep to your guns and keep moving ahead. It will work itself out.
Just like when I started this post . I typed in for the best all grand outcross to breed my young females to. I am yet to get a dog that was not related. Just goes to show typing does not always come out like the man wanted.

There is alot of nice hounds out there that today that do not have Wilcox or Briar Creek blood in them. There is alot of dogs that do not have a all grand pedigree that are better then some that have an all grand pedigree. I just think we must not get blind because of papers do not tree coon, however if you have a good cross that is a all grand cross that make coondogs you can have both coondogs and a dog with an all grand pedigree.
I have one male pup here that is a splitting image of Casper. You could not tell them a part out of my Queen female and Huck A Buck. I would sell him
Good Luck with your hounds

Now I know that the Barber Creek Ace dog is a grandson of Snake, but seems like a couple of these would be unrelated or at least not close related.

John, I hope that you don't think that I'm knockin' the Briar Creek or Wilcox line of dogs because I for sure am NOT. I have nothing but the upmost respect for what Jim, Larry, and yourself have done for the breed. THANKS guys!!!

One of the ole timers of the breed and a guy whose breedin' I truely admire is Berton Oney and alot of his later studs where Wilcox bred, Oney's Bawlie (full Brother to Bingo), Oney's King (son of Bingo), and Oney's Ringo (son of St. Nick), so if he is usin' it it's gotta be good, right!!!

I was awoke one morning last spring and when I was told it was Jim Ridge I was speechless. He was calling to see if I was runnin' an add in the yearbook, he was calling all of the UEB&FA members, that's all he wanted, but to get the chance to speak to a Giant in our breed, well it made my day. And for him to take the time outta his day for the Assoc. well that says alot in itself.

I tryed tosay that English guys do not work together. We are to spread apart. You have a English breeder in W.V., OHIO, Mich,Iowa and so on.
I am sure the strains you posted are good hounds. I am wanting a MULTI-PURPOSE HOUND. One that can do it all.
I have GRNTCH ,NTCH FCH WCH here to breed to. I am breeding some fine pups and hope to get better ones. Someone has to breed them if I am to get one. I am just hoping to breed the best ones I can. Just loike everyone else.
I want something that everyone else doesn't have a 6 gen. all grand. I am very per. about my hounds and what I breed. It takes more than being a coonhound to please me. Yes this is imp. but I can make a coonhound out of many diff. types of dogs.
I have a very good 4 gen. all grand called GRNTCH GRFCH GRWCH GRCH Eric's All Grand Casper that I want to breed a all grand female to. I will not breed just any female. She must be THE RIGHT ONE. I have traveled all over the country to get a few of the best that I could find. Now I want to breed them to the best that I can find. Just like everyone else. If you would like to try one of my hound come down and we can turn them loose. Good luck with your hounds.

You got your work cut out for you, but good luck with that goal for a six generation all grand. I just might have to try one of those all-grand pups one of these days, and it'll probably make me wish that I'd a done it sooner.

Again GOOD LUCK,and really would like to meet you.

Guys, get ready for the six generation all grand pups. Jesse adkins has a female he is hunting now that is a NTCH with one win towards a grand and when she is finished and bred to his Thunder dog I believe they will be a Six. And I have hunted several times with both and they are ((((COONDOGS)))) with the best papers a man could ask for. I hunted the other night with one of Thunders oldest pups real impressive for only 5 months old.

Thanks, Ryan

I beleive those pups when finished can only be the 5th and by the way I wish him great success with that cross.

In order to get the 6th someone better be coming up with the another line some where, so how. How many times can you bred half brother and sisters or Aunt and nephews together.

I'd take a good look at Del Hudson's Nashoba Valley Roller dog.I've hunted with him a few times and he's a dang nice dog.
That would give you a little different shot of blood to mix in with yours wouldn't it?

I really wish ya'll luck on your goals of 6 or 7generation all grand. Thats a nice goal to shoot for, and something special. You say we all should work together, but I reckon my goals are different. #1 most important to me is to produce COON DOGS. Not a coon dog that has to be made. My goal (and im having some sucess) is to Produce Natural/ Ballanced/ Coon Dog. Pups that will run track, open, and tree coon from the first time out and steady improve each time taken, naturally with only having to hunt them... I want each litter to be better than the parents. I will not breed for titles, money, or blood lines alone. My first and formost reason for choosing a mate is it must be better than what I have, in the woods, and can improve on what i've got. If i breed to a 4generation all grand dog that cant match up with my 'PR' and improve on it, in all aspects.. (IM BACKING UP!!!)
It's starting to get fun, my next line cross will include 5 known Naturals in the first 3 generations.. So I guess your goal is 6gen all Grand. My goal is 6generation all Natural Coon Dogs......

Good Luck,
Randy Langston

The Roller hound sure did look like a nice hound to me. I do not know that much about him myself. I have heard some nice things about him and Del. I would not mind to have a good femalefrom him.

The line of hounds I am breeding has ALL REAL COONHOUNDS IN IT. Can you say that about your hounds. Have they been reproducing great hounds for 30 years? These hounds are bred to reproduce. Some of the most consistence hounds out there. Now as for coonhounds if all you want is a better coonhound that what you got. We can solve this problem. Come on up and we will see who has a real coonhound. If its not a coonhound it NEVER stayed at my house. I killed it and went on. I got 3 real good males that are also great papered hounds. I am breeding good coonhounds now. Of coarse we want each litter to get better.
Now do I sound like I am stupid to you? I drove one way 18.50 hours. Spent 7 days hunting and checking out hounds. To buy something that is not for REAL. I made hundreds of trips here and there. Most of the time I came home wiothout one. It takes years to get a good breeding program going. It takes a lot of people to make it happen. Ialready have coonhounds thanks to some breeders who would sell a man a good hound. Now I want to improve on them if I can.

Come on up with Houndster. Bring your hound to. I would like to see some of those great ALA. hounds. Better wait a few days until the water goes down. It is flooded bad here.
When you buy a pup what are you getting? Just because it is out of a good cross does not make it a coonhound. Some crosses do not work. When you buy a pup there is no gua. that it is a good one. The man who says I gua. this pup to be running and treeing at this age is a liar. All he can realty gua. is to get you another if that one is not a good one. There are bad and good in all crosses. The chances of getting a good pup are better with the all grand. You have years of select breeding behind them. The chances get even better if the all grand is a reproducer cross. All three males are out of these crosses. Now you add in good females and you have part of the puzzle.

you may have some fine "paper hound" but does that 10cent piece of paper go to thee woods and tree coon ?if you can not breed dogs throwing naturals naturals from time thay get 3 mo old never seen a coon and go tree on a drag hid only way thay now its there is scent alone that is what we want naturalls dosent matter if it is a 6 gen of grnitch for instance i just 2 weeks ago went to tennessee to buy a dog "paperhound" i bought the dog and it would be hard for me to sell a dog like that i would have to give it away becouse of people out there out there to get top blood and doesent care what the dogs do and will sell you culls at a high price and will not even bark at a caged coon at 9 mo old thoes dogs do noot even need to be breed much less sold as a good dog saying tha i know tha hounster is throwing nnaturals becouse i have one and they would rather give you a nice pup than to sell a bad dog if i still had my pr dog she died i would come hunt with you and show you what a coondog is with a all gran pedi

That (paper hound) has wins in 5 dif. states. Has been hunted all over the country. Has won GRFCH in the field trails, has won GRWCH in the water races, has won GRCH in the shows, and finished from NTCH TO GRNTCH with a total of less than 175 minus. Most of which was my fault because I got in a hurry. These hounds are 90% or better at treeing coons. If they bark they will tree it. Have won most casts they have been in. If I NEED TO HELP MY HOUND TO WIN HE LOST. Good hounds do not have goals they make it a reality.
When you went to TN. to get a hound. The only person you can blame for getting junk is you. Didn't you try him first? Sounds like you got took.
I have had pups that will tree on a hide at 5 weeks old. I have a picture of this but I can't get them to post. I have pups at 4 months old that are treeing their own coon. Call and I can give you some ref. to prove what I have said.
You must have mistaken me for one of the big guys. Wrong I have no money to put paperwork on any hound. They get it on their own. The old fashioned way They win them fair. Alot of the time with a kid handling them. It should not be the handler it should be the hound. A hound called a coonhound.

i agree with you on some things . but all i am saying (an i am not being rood)yes you may have some fine hounds but people should not breed for paper alone breed for natural pups and i am not saying you do but people out here breeding top paper hounds that at 9 mo old want bark at a caged coon is doing somthing wrong! yes i got stuck and that is ok do unto others as you would want done unto you . what is hurting the breed is people breeding for paper alone the best dog i have ever owned was mostly pr pedigree and i would hunt her against any dog out there and i would bbet she would be first strike and tree but i lost her and am trying to get me somthing going but there are 2 many people out there trying to stick you with culls with a good ped thats all i am saying so i dont want to affend you i am not saying you are one of those guys i am 26 yr old and i have just recently got back in to the sport. but when i was 18 there wasnt many people trying to get rich off coondogs as there are now just wanting to sell u a dog with good papers and could care less if the dog is good know what i mean

Sounds like you have some nice hounds. We could help each other in a lot of ways. We both are working to help the breed.Lucky will be the #1 female this year. Both Casper and Prowler are out of Lucky and Huck A Buck. Most of the pups from Lucky are reproducing some nice hounds. Each person breeds for something a little diff. but if you put them together they are after the same thing. They are consistence or well balanced as you call it. I beleive it takes more than one stud dog to keep a good line going. If not you get to inbred and sooner or later it starts the other way.
If you had what I have you would be breeding all grand. All I ask is for you to come up and let me show you what I got. A look is worth a thousand words. A lot of guys say they have the best and if you feed it you should think it is. If you come and hunt with my hounds and do not breed to them what are you out? But you never know unless you see. I can help you and you can help me .We need to get together and go hunting and talk hounds. We are looking for the same thing.

Hey Don. Part of the deal in you buying Casper from me was that I get three puppies out of him. Why don't you do me a favor and offer one of those pups to Joseph Brewer. I would like to see this young man get a good natural coondog, with an all Grand Pedigree. Joseph if you want one of my pups get a hold of Don when he has some pups out out of Casper. Your more than welcome to one of mine. Eric

Right now Idon't have Casper pups. I got some From Prowler and Feebee. He would be welcome to one of these. If not as soon as I get one he is sure welcome to one. Man you sure did do a good job on Casper he will come from the top of the mountain treed to the truck and get in the box just call. He has become very acc. always has a coon. He has never run or treed any junk. You saved me a ton of work and I would like to say thank for selling me Casper. Took me a little time to get him in shape. Sure wish I could hunt that flat land again. You know how to tell a hillbilly? He has one leg longer than the other.
Tell Joseph to give me a call and I will find him a pup. If he wants one from Casper we will have one shortly. I will work with him.

Guys wanting to know about Casper

Eric H. is the man that sold me Casper when he was a NTCH GRWCH GRFCH GRCH and I finished him to grand in 8 hunts. I lost my first cast I got in a hurry and the hour got me one night(he had the coon when I found him. In the mountains this is not hard to do. If he goes over the top you loose hearing and takes the hunt to get to the top.
So if you want to know about Casper ask Eric for he did most of the training.
All I know is Casper is one of the best I have seen. I just got lucky and got him when Eric was going throught a divorse. He has some nice pups on the ground and working on some new ones.
