Not the same person I guess. The Cliff Parks I'm speaking of lived up here between Battle Creek and Kalamazoo. He was from a family of trappers and coonhunters.

Anyone else ever heard anything about John Wayne being a coon hunter or have any information on him?

Did you find anything? I can run down to his birthplace, 10 minutes away, to ask the ladies who run it.

Dad was part of the group that hunted deer & coons with Tom Selleck in the 80's down in SW Iowa.

Alfalfa grew up here, outside Paris IL. My old coonhunting buddies Marshall Snyder and Archie Eslinger ( both passed on now) talked about Alfalfa being a coonhunter and buying a dog off of him way back years ago. Dog was a hot nosed Shepard type dog that would stay treed. They hunted a Bluetick with the Shepard. Blue started and warmed up the track and then Shep would take over. Funny you never hear of that now, but old timers did that a lot. Had a pair of dogs, one for tracking and one for treeing. Whatever it took to get lots of coon and possum on the wall.

Adam Vinatieri

I remember reading either field and stream or sports illustrated that Vinatieri grew up hunting mountain lion with his father's hounds

I was with the Mo. hwy. patrol in early 80's and was assigned to be back stage during Hank jr. show. I got to talk with his manager and of course was asking him questions about Hanks hunting Plotts, and ect. His manager said you have to understand he has alot of different interest and stuff going on, he may be playing golf one week and hunting elk next week and running hounds the next, he was hard to keep up with, HA!.

first time I ever went coon hunting was one night I was out climbing tobacco barns catching yellow hammers, called bird blinding. Fellows down in woods around fire behind barn hunted like this. Little did I know, I was hooked right from the start. Got me a bluetick x red Irish settler cross pup and it was on.
