Gary Adams Jr has always had some great females. Pretty much all he hunts. He's been doing it for a long time and always has a first class dog at the end of his leash. He's a B&T man and I'm a Blue dog man, but if I ever switch there is no question where I'll go. He's in Neon, KY.

Supprised I haven't seen Russ Bellar here. He has raised some fine ones.

John wick has probably had better dogs that he never hunted that anyone I would own or see.

Redbones

....I'd like to mention Curtis and Kathy Elburn from Indiana..Years and years of conformity bred into their dogs. They all look alike now and then and think they were not only fine show dogs but got the job done in the woods too.

Todd........

..........I think it should be a breeder of consistency and that takes
years and years. Breeders who are dedicated to improving their breed - looks, brains and hunting ability - dual purpose hounds.

I would have to agree with the choice of Lonnie Smiley, he does have three of the the top ten historical reproducing bluetick females and the number three male overall. including 30 Grand Nite Champions out of Rambo 2 alone.

He also has been very successfull in alot of the major events, including four top twenty finishes in the ukc world hunt

Todd, I agree Jr. has some good dogs, and has always had better than most.
He has a litter of black pups now that should make gooduns.
Him and me are gonna turn loose in about an hour.

Larry, I hope y'all didn't get as wet as I did! Went up the holler by myself. Wasn't gone 30 minutes when it broke loose and soaked me. Truck seat was still wet on the way to work this morning. Needless to say, I'm alittle damp! Gary always packs a good female. Sadie seems to reproduce with whatever Jr breeds her to.

Todd, we turned loose once, dogs got split. About the time we each got to our dogs the sky turned loose, we got soaked. Sure am glad to see the rain though.
Gary had Pepper, Sadie has a gang of pups right now.

I figured he was hunting Pepper anyway. Or the Annie dog. Haven't been to the woods with her yet but I've heard she's same song second verse. What was Sadie bred to this time? How old are they?

Chuck Schmersal (spelling ?) For Walkers.

For Plott's I'd say Jeff Koons and Bud Ramsey.

For Redbones I'd say Harry Omedian

BEHIND THE SCENES

It sounds to me like this post is trying to mention the behind the scenes breeders that does not get the high profile magazine atricles like they deserve.

One that really comes to mind here in the midwest and the Bluetick Breed is Cori Mailes!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This man has one of the best breeding progrmas going on currently in my opinion in a three or four state area. His ol Pete dog would have been something special if he would have lived a normal life. Cori's females and males dog has produced many many many Nt. CH and GR. Nt Ch around here and are now starting to show up in the breeding programs of others now. Cori is not one to travel and spend 1000's of dollars trying to become a known breeder, he operates a dairy and that limits his travels and what he has done he has done in his own back yard by way of breeding coondogs.
Cori currently has some of the better females in the area that never sees a night hunt, he is not interested in selling them to make money he only interested in continueing to better the breed. And it is working.

mleck, Cory's program starts with having 8 to 15 pups running around the farm. Keeping some nice females that will flat tree coon around and reproduce tree dogs. There are no stray cats within a mile or two of his house. It's not long until those with tree and track in them look real skinny. A few of them that don't seem to get interested have a short life. So, if you go to his place to pick out a pup don't over look the thin one. Pete was a reproducer but I mentioned that on this board many years ago. Rudy Sue, Pete's dam has been on the current list for many years and just had four more pups. It's one thing to find a cross that works and stay with it but Sue (Chief X Rudy)has been bred to a different sire everytime and produced top hounds. If we go back two or three more generations you start to see Diamond Jim, Sage, Natural Blue Ben, Natural Blue Belle, Quail Creek Jimmy and MadDog Smokie all old time coon dogs.

If you are a coon hunter or a breeder, you first must know what you are looking for in a hound. The criteria that meets your minimum standards. I guess Cory's minimum standards start with those pups running around treeing everything. They must have a good mouth and lots of hunt. I have heard Cory say many times, "I better tie those pups up before they get kilt or lost. They are treed or running all the time. I had to go pick them up at the neighbors across the section a couple of times."

Personally, I have owned several hounds out of Pete or Sue and never had one that wasn't a treedog. Most haven't met my standards and ended up making top hounds for other folks. It doesn't take much to get me turned off on a hound and at that point they are forever on the auction block.

On Cory's behalf, you won't deal with anyone more honest. He works hard and plays hard. He has a wife that believes in her man and supports what he does. Cory spends lots of time with his boys and coaching little league sports which takes away from hunting. He knows the qualities of a top coon dog and truly enjoys raising a litter of pups and watching them develop.

Lee Logan
bred, raised, owned and promoted one of the most influential studs in TW history, Logan's Wild Clover. The crosses from Clover onto Logan's Wild Jeanie and Schmersal's Stylish Queen were also to very influential crosses that are still impacting the breed today.
I don't know all the crosses Lee has made but it sure seems like they make coondogs.
The Clover - Jeanie cross also produced a World Ch in Tony's Wild Joey.

I saw this "Aron" name mentioned a few times on here, I didnt know anything about him. I have a male here out of Skuna River Bark, his bottom side is full of the Aron dogs, 2 or 3 different Queens in there. He's obviously been around a while.
