What I don't understand is the post question was about what they needed to improve as far as what other hunters have seen witht the dogs they have hunted with? But then when people give there honest (I have to assume that since I don't know allot of these people personally) opion then I see Red bone people posting statements like that is bull or look at my nite champion! Lets drop the tail gate ect?

With no disrespect intended perhaps thay is why your breed has the lowest reproductive levels of all the breeds? I thought it was an informative post. I would love to see those red dogs make a return to prominance. But honest self evaluation of what has happened to the breed and constructive critism is the only way the breed will improve. That goes for all breeders of all breeds.

One definition of insanity is to keep doing the same things and expect different results.

Tim-

here's one in Wisconsin that can still do it. You are right though Art, the purpose of the post was to ask what could be improved. You see here- now this dog apparently has excessively active saliva glands. I guess he ought to be culled, eh?

No Joe as long as he trees coons and has the meat that is what counts. I don't care about glands, or feet just if that dog can tree the meat! I don't care how pretty he can stand of his feet just once again give me a dog with the meat! haha I am a poet and did not even know it! LOL

Joe, you got the hard part done, putting your picture on Hunt101 and saving the link. NOw, when you post, you only have to add an image statement around your link.

It should look exactly like this:

[i mg]http://www.hunt101.com/img/095215.jpg[/i mg]

EXCEPT, take the space out between the 'i" and the "m" at the beginning and the end. I put the space in so you could see the code.

Tim-

Gr.Nt.Ch. South Branch Midnite Pete. In the background the tree climber is Gr.Nt.Ch. Mosquito Creek Outlaw Sue.

Art, my friend you are a wonderful poet. I do have one question, though. I see you hunt the "Old Hickory Nut Harry" walkers. Was Old Harry much of a reproducer? What was his % compared to the top 10 redbones of today?

Billy George- I see what you mean about the red dogs needing more hard hunters. By the sounds of your motto, you might need to do a little more huntin' yourself. Then you might not need somebody else to find you a treedog, eh?

John D.- thanks for the posting advice. Your are a scholar and a gentle........Ok, a scholar.lol

Wade slow down. You're clogging the server again. Go outside and stick your head in a snowbank and count to 10. Ok try counting to 3 first.

You mean Little Joe-

is a half brother to the hound in front and a son of the tree climber?

How do you get the cotton candy to stick to their mouths like that?

Joe, no I do not hunt Hickory Nut Harry dogs, I hunt Lone Pine bred walkers, Mostly out of old clover, Cassey and some whitey stock and they are reproducers. The "Old Hickory" is just the kennel name my kids came up with.

Oh Joe one thing though I don't know what old Harry or even Young Harry's numbers are but I would bet they are better than any of the Red dogs out there. What is the % of the top red dog?

Joe Maitland,
I have two black dog that can run and tree a coon with no problem. They are not what I consider a "treedog". The only dog I owned that I would call a "treedog" died in December. I will never find another treedog as classy as Hoss, and if I do It will take a lot of people to find one like him..
