feed
If you look on the back, or sometimes it's on the side of you dog feed bag, you'll find where it shows the proven ingredients!! The first 3 ingredients that you read is what the feed mainly consist of!! If it reads corn as the first ingredient, then that's pretty much what you are feeding!! Also look at the protein and fat levels! To me, the fat is most important!! When your hound is running, the first thing his body burns is fat!! I feel like it is more important than protein!! I raise black and tans, so when I see that they are shiny and slick, I know that the feed is doing a good job!! I have also learned to feed a feed that has omega 3 or somekind of omega fatty acids. I have found that feeds with the omega, and at least an 18% fat level, that keeping them shiny and slick is not hard!! I have tried alot of different brands, but I cannot find a meat or poultry based feed, that can compete with diamond!! That's with what the feed consist of, for the money!! Diamond also has a 24/20 meat and bonemeal based feed that's around $12 for 50lbs!! I like the poultry based 26/18 the best, for perfomance, and overall maintaining their weight, through the cold weather!!
