Think about it....I'm not saying there aren't off color dogs that I would love to hunt with or own, I am not COLOR BLIND. That said....why are there so many walkers out there?
When the "other breed" guy's can answer this question then we will talk %age's.
Don't let em get to ya Trevor, the best hound I have followed in 25plus years have been walkers....followed some good "off color" dogs too....but the ones that stand out and wish I could get one more pup from, have all been Treeingwalker Coonhounds!

i will tell you why- people went to hunts and saw that walkers did all the winning- so people got walkers and did winning of their own and then it just went going and now the walker breed dominates and wins everything

c'mon now Richard. Let's get back to reality. You may have had better luck with walkers than with anything else, but that don't mean that others haven't had the OPPOSITE experience.

It's comments like that keep me from EVER wanting to hunt a spotted dog.

Mr Chapman, its your choice, but us Walker folks get hammered all the time, every once and a while, gotta let off a little steam.
Good luck with what ever you like to hunt, and If you cant get um started, there are plenty of good Walker pups available, just waiting to make you the best Coondog, youve ever had in your life. LOL

............

..............when I first started competition hunting (October 1970), some of the best hounds in the hunts were Plotts and Redbones ( Pioneer Slim, Tree Talking Rowdy, Hunters Timber Chopper, Timber Scanning Radar, Woodpecker, Ace)...............some of the worst were Walkers..............................for the most part, things have switched around.............bottom line..............good and bad in all breeds............some are just harder to find.....................

I don't know Mr. Nethery, it seems like all us off-colored dog hunters have to hear the "if it ain't a Walker, it must not be a coondog" junk more than y'all get the trashy, ill, slick treein' bit LOL. I guess it's a matter of perspective.
