Just a couple of PR redbone dogs . Not even gonna put it out cause no one will care anyway. Not very people think good dogs can come from a couple of PR dogs, but I beleive I got one. His Pedigree looks really great and has alot of GrNT's and NtCh's all the way up to his dam and sire with some older stuff in the 3rd and 4th genration that I was told is really nice. I'm gonna be real honest, Im really glad I had the oppertunity find and buy him. I had a 2 week trial on him and bought him after 3 days of hunting him. The dog has never been up north and was hauled several hundred miles. The very first turnout he goes 700 yards on frozen terrain and trees a coon in 10 mins or less. Then over the next couple of nights showed me 6 more coons and 1 slick in a short about of hunting time each night.
Its a little to early to tell and he still adjusting to the weather and terrain but I beleive he is alot of what the breed is looking for. The guy that had him has done a really good job training and working with him. The guy had him since a puppy so he knew him like a book. He seems to be the right kind. He has all kinds of independance, Good Mouth, Good Strike, fast in the woods (hunts a woods at 7 to 8mph), accurate, well built (weighs about 40lbs to 45lbs) but yet still looks houndy. He listens very well and is extremley smart. I bought him mainly for my son to hunt in $KC and youth hunts since Boone is getting older. I like hunting and pushing younger dogs not as finished and wanted to get him something more finished so I have been on search for a while all without breaking the bank.
Ol Boone is 8 turning 9 in febuary. Boone has outlasted and been pushed alot longer than alot of dogs in the breed and will continue to see some hunts but just not night in and night out like he did. Since Boone was 1.5 years old he has been in competition hunts, water races, and feild trials. Boone has logged several thousands of miles over the last few years of competition hunting and its getting harder and harder for him to keep up with the younger dogs if pushed alot. The Old Dog has done us well and we have had a great time pushing him but the days of taking him to 2 to 4 hunts a week take there toll on him. The dog can still tree coons in style and we still try to get him out a few times a month but do it at his pace not ours.
So time will tell and I hope we will be hearing alot about 3 year Cash in the near future.
