"LIFE"
"ALRITE"! No fightin over the magazines you two!
It's pretty cool to look at them & see add's for dogs that don't show up on three generation pedigree anymore. Also amazing the number of people that where at it hot heavy that have givin it up. Very few that I knew & recognized seem to be still active at least in the competative circle.
Found the magazine,Cooner, that I wrote my first column in in '84. Enjoyed the column's by Dave & Val Nelson. Also the ones by our gone but far from forgottin freind that I spent a fair amount of time with on the road & in the timber, Rick Tomter. Some serious memory jarrin readin them ones which I desperately need.
Some made me grin & laugh to myself & some made my heart heavy. I have had this stirring idea of recappin issues everytime I look at them. The history in them among "ALL BREEDS" is unreal as it should be. Gonna work on gettin them all in order. I have re-read about 25 of them so far, cover to cover.
One thing that does amaze me is the $ value placed on puppies, stud fees & dogs in various stages of their career hasn't changed one bit! You could buy $500 puppies in 1980 or pay 4 & $500 stud fee's if'n you was so inclined to.
Hard to fathum there has been "O" increase in the value of our sport/hobby in 30 years except the expense we put out isn't it?
On another note Matt has been huntin his "Moe" female, sister to "Patch" alone a fair amount. I went along for the enjoyment last night & was really impressed with her, I mean "REALLY IMPRESSED"! She's been in the shadows of her brother & father I supose but I see that changin. She is by all means gonna be a force to be reckoned with in the competative arena.
We intend to get after titlin our Blue Ladies & puttin the time into them they deserve. Been a very bad year for us as far as gettin to the events or doin as much huntin as we normally have. Just seem's like there was multiple things goin on every weekend & with the growth of our family it is whats important. Took me way to many years to grasp that but I have & really don't have a problem missin them if we need to.
Matt & Amanda are expecting their second curtain climber around openin day of rifle season & it's a lil girl the Doc says! We can't wait for her to bless us with her arrival!
Don't get me wrong,we love our hounds & the things that come with them but family trumps any & everything else in life as it should be & is for all of us I hope?
