beau primarily goes back to the stock of o.o. grant, via folks like don cummings, mike griffee, doyle calloway, and others. i kept beau's sister from that litter as well and she's a pretty fair coondog. she's on the small side, 75+lbs. in hunting shape. beau was the runt male of the litter........but he caught up.lol.

just guessing but i'd say the all blue and maybe the size came from the upson dogs. i've seen some upson peds that had some of james hodges stock. he had some grant stock and when you find all blue you can bet a dollar to a doughnut grant is not far behind. grant was the first to have the all blues. at least that's what o.o. said in his pamphlet in '48. lots of vaughn derivatives in there as well. according to some old timers i talked to the vaughn and grant stock mixed really well back in the day.

Barney was a TC Jones bred dog. Possibly the most intelligent dog that I ever saw. Hard tree dog and reproduced his type... He died from a snake bite to his neck....(here in my yard). The best cross with him was probably on an all Bragg female.

I'D SAY YOU WERE RIGHT ON THAT. DENNIS HAS HAD SOME REALLY NICE CRITTERS OVER THE YEARS. DON'T THINK HE GETS AS MUCH CREDIT AS HE DESERVES.

KEN, MAYBE ONE OF THESE WOULD WORK UP YOUR WAY.

HOPE SHE "TOOK". LAST LITTER GOT GOOD REPORTS.

OLE "MAGGIE" WAS BRED TO "HORSE" ON THE 24TH OF MARCH. SHE DOESN'T HAVE A TON OF YOUR FLAVOR, BUT PRETTY GOOD STUFF THOUGH, AND A GOOD DOSE OF "SMOKEY RIVER". SHE IS A LIGHT DOG, LIKE HORSE, AND PURDY GOOD SIZE. I DOUBT THERE WILL BE TO MANY DARK ONES IN THEIR LITTER. KNOW YOU LIKE DARK.

MAN THAT'S ROUGH. COPPER HEADS ARE ABOUT ALL WE HAVE AROUND HERE. THEY RARELY KILL A DOG IF BIT. JUST MAKES THEM REALLY SICK FOR A FEW DAYS. WHAT KIND OF SNAKE BITE DO YOU THINK IT WAS. AND DON'T TELL ME A "BAD" ONE !

Snake bite

We have copperheads and Rattlesnakes here. It could have either. We used to have alot of trouble with snakes here around the house. We still do in the woods.... I don't do much summer time hunting....

I DON'T KILL BLACK SNAKES, THEY HELP KEEP DOWN THE MICE, AND WILL KILL COPPERHEADS. ALL OTHERS I USE THE RULE : THE ONLY GOOD SNAKE, IS A DEAD SNAKE !
