Me and Nathan took our 3 Mont old female out for an introduction to the wood today. She ventured out close to 200 yads on her own and had her nose to the ground as well. ShE checked up on a few of the trees.
She continues to impress.

I am really blessed with how these pups out of Jack have been doing. They have all seemed to show early signs of being get gone pups with a good brain between their ears. They are also all good houndy lookin' dogs.

I'm happy as a clam and I can't wait to get home and get mine in the timber.

Been getting some emails about the pups out of the JackxHaley and the JackxDixie crosses.

Thus far we have pups that are 8 and 6 months old that are going step for step all night, opening on track, and starting to tree some. All on wild coons, not training drags or cages.

I'm really liking what I'm seeing out of Jack as a Sire thus far.

I couldn't have done any of that without the guys getting these pups putting them in the timber and letting me know how it's going.

I really do appreciate that fellas.

For those of you who know or have hunted with or know my dog Jack, I have a bit of news that is kind of rough. (pictures are a bit bloody)

GrCh NiteCh 'PR' Wiley's Hillbilly Jack had to undergo surgery yesterday to remove two sticks that became lodged in his neck. The pieces of wood were lodged millimeters from his jugular, and could have moved to kill him at any moment. I have to give credit to God that they didn't make that shift.

The Vet had to remove quite a bit of skin in order to save him. Therefore, Jack will have a permanent scar on the left side of his cheek and down his neck. Inevitably, this will affect his looks, the future will tell as to what extent.

Below is the picture sent to me from the Vet following surgery. (the scalpel is included to reference for size)

However, Jack will still be able to hunt, and we will be back in the circuit when I get back from Africa and make his push towards Grand.

Love your hounds every chance you get, they can be taken at any time. Being a coonhound is a dangerous occupation. Remember that folks.

Im glad the vet was able to save Jack. These hard going dogs we hunt lead a dangerous life. Every time we unsnap them there is a chance we may never see them again alive. But to me.....life wouldn't be worth livin if my dogs were leash locked......and I think my dogs might feel the same way....

I appreciate the kind words Mr. Maxey.

I agree with you 100%. I love hunting a hard going hound, and I know for a fact that Jack loves it just as much (if not more) than I do. He is the happiest in the timber, and he goes nuts when he's on the chain or in the house.

I hope to see you guys back at some hunts as well. I plan on making the St. Jude's hunt if everything works out medically for him. So maybe I'll see you guys there.

Well I ain't posted anything on here in awhile, but we have been huntin a little. I have been pushin Dixieland Red Tim pretty hard and we was able to finish him to HTX last weekend with 1 win from Springfield, Tn club, and 2 wins from Houston county club in Erin, Tn.

And put him in a cast Friday night at Springfield, Tn and came back with 300 circle no plus and no minus.

Then last we casted out of Lewisburg club in Lewisburg, Ky and picked up a 1st place win with 175+ no minus There was 6 dogs entered in the registered cast

My plans next is either Morgantown, Ky friday night. Or the Shamrock Showdown in Erin, Tn Saturday.

Jack has made a fantastic recovery.

I took him out several times now since his injury / surgery. He has treed coon every time he was cut loose.

I can not express how happy I am with this hound. So many dogs won't make a recovery after such a rough time like he has.

Last Sunday (15 MAR 2015) I took Jack up to Jonathan Christmas' house and we cut loose. We had Johnny (a walker dog), Pete, June-Bug, Tim, and Jack. And we had a GREAT hunt.

On the first drop Jack and Johnny treed with the meat about 0.71 miles from the truck.

On the second drop it was only Tim and Jack. We treed with the meat about 190yards after burning the track. Jack did great! I just can't ask more of him, he always does his best to please me. Jack is such a pleasure to own.

Mike hall and I took Jack out last night. He worked a heck of the track that went through the creek three or four times and doubled back quite a bit. Ole Ricky couldn't get past him though.

Jack treed with the meat. I am so proud of how this dog has recovered from adversity after adversity, he always wants to please.

Ol Tim looked real good tonight. We picked up a 2nd place win with 350+. Should have been 425 but I pulled 75- that was my fault not his. He split treed with 3 coons and was almost 900 yards on the last tree when I treed him the 2 old men I was huntin with was takin bets on whether or not he would be there when we got there. He was standin pretty all alone split about 20yards.

I couldn't have ask for anything more out of him tonight.

Mike hall came up tonight for a late night hunt. He brought his puppy off Jack and his Pete dog.
1st drop didn't produce much so we collected them up a little over a mile out and made a 2nd drop.
Tim ended up 680yds treed on a lay up and Pete backed him pretty good. All in all Tim looked pretty good in the nasty wind and rain we had to deal.

This is a cross that I have been looking forward to for a long time.

As many of you know, Jonathan Christmas had a dog named Jim and we started a dog named Jo-Ann. They were a nice set of dogs from a litter that has done quite well.

I recently acquired a littermate to Jo-Ann and Jim named Moon. She came into heat nearly as soon as I got her home. So after talking some things over, I decided to breed her.

They have locked up twice now and will be locked again on Friday.

This is a half-brother and half-sister cross out of Jabo. This is the first time we've doubled up on Jabo like this, and I am very excited to see how this turns out.
