how are those clover breed pups doing? are they getting any color yet? lol mine are getting their color now so I figure yours are. I can't wait to see you fellas at bluetick days and visit. Mark take a switch to Corey and make him get right. i'm going to nick name him can't get right if those pups don't turn blue.

We took Zoey and Riptide tonight and had a nice little hunt. First dump they got in there about 450 yards and Zoey struck and off to the race they went. They ran it a little another 500 yards and jammed a tree. We went there and found the coon, on the outside of a big den tree. Loaded up and made anther drop by river and they hit right off the leash and ran to the hills about 600 yards and tree another one. Had a pretty good short hunt, old dogs can still get it done once in a while!

Corey is off to the vet once again today. Riptide has had very soft stool this last week and noticed this morning a little blood and stool like water. I check the hounds every morning prior to going to work, old habit! Same food, all shots up to date and is on Interceptor plus so the worming and vacinations should be good. He acts fine and will eat like a horse but the loose stool and blood is not right. We have feed Pro Plan for a long time and have tried the -Pro Plan for sensitive stomach and it is about the same so time to get him to the vet. All the other dogs stool has been hard and no issues. I'm wondering if he is getting worked here latley could have anyting to do with it? Darn hounds cost more than kids do! Oh we have tried for four days now Rice, boiled chicken/no skin and scrammbled eggs and still loose. Anyone have anyother idea's?

Well the vets visit was worth it. The vet said Riptide checked out good on all tests / blood work. He said more than likley he has a nervous stomach due to changes around him latley and put him on a different diet for a few days and some meds. Said we are good to go just give him a few days on meds and a different diet for a few days and should be able to hunt him by next week.

We will have the ol Blue dogs there even if they only have three legs! Larry and myself would be a pair I'm sure but I bet we would not have to run to them! We are going to be there Wed. night and going hunting with some guys from down there and see if the Blue dogs can tree a southern coon. Southern Hospitality at its best! We will see you when you get there!

Since Riptide is a little under the weather we took just Zoey last night, made two tree and seen two coons and one dump we did not hit anything.

Well we made it to Batesville and are ready for a short tune up hunt tonight. A couple locals were good enough to volunteer to take us for a hunt, it is very much appreciated! We found gas here for $1.77 and when we left home it was $2.29, kind a hard to explain! We brought both Riptide and Zoey, Riptide has lost a lot of weight but seems to feel much better and hope he can make it at least two of the three nights.

This is how hounds are to act, Riptide and Zoey Kicked back and taking it easy. They are tied out for a while now but in the room tonight for a good nights rest, unless Corey snores!

Took the hounds for a short hunt tonight. Riptide went one way 800 plus yards and we drove around to get him and Zoey the opposite direction treed right a mile and had one. Zoey made it through the slew along the river and did a nice job! Yes there are slews! LOL!

Been asked by several how our trip to Batesville went. We did not do any good but had a few friends did some winning. Over the four nights we hunted we ran a total of (8) tracks, two times had to catch dogs on roads/ withdrew one night due to road and not much time left to hunt, one tree a rock ledge, one time ran out, (2) coons seen, (1) tree could not find and one track in high back water / canal and withdrew, high water with a gator and called off track. Seen a few cotton mouths, gator and one cast seen two Rattle snakes when they got to their dogs treed, game warden took this cast to the woods. Most times hounds were at least several hundred yards before hitting a track and a few times a mile or more from where we dumped out. Many locals felt it was just the wrong time of year to host this hunt in this area along with a full moon made tough hunting. But on the positive side it makes a guy respect his hunting ground a lot more! We did meet a lot of new hunters and meet up with some old friends and had a lot of good food and story telling! LOL!

Well it looks like Corey is rested up and ready to travel with me again. Going to head to Ohio this coming weekend and do some hunting in the Buckeye State. May get lucky and tree a few but the one thing I bet is the hunting has to be better! LOL!

We made 5 trees and looked at 7 coon on our cast in public hunting down in Mississippi. I've never been on a bad cast down there lol just the breaks I guess

Eddie I even sugar coated our hunts! Had an old friend in your cast and he told us all about it. Hounds hunted hard and far, you have to hit them before you can tree them. I know ours will at least run a coon and has a pretty darn good nose and to only run one or two tracks a night with four hounds is not good nor fun. I know for sure some of our friends / others we hunted with had some tough hounds and they too had the same problem and comments. At my age being able to enjoy a hunt is the most important thing, yes that includes being able to hit a coon once or twice a night in less than a mile or two. One thing that really hurt was having to hunt many of the same woods three nights in a row due to the lack of guides and places that they had we could hunt, hats of to the ones that took us as some guides took four or more cast just so we could hunt, they did more than their share of the work. I could not image taking four or more cast out and dropping them off and say hunt the two hours here and leave them. Guides are a very big part of a successful hunt!

Not many dead casts all weekend though. I'm sorry some of you had bad casts but it happens everywhere. I won my cast several times at AO with only 1 coon scored till I got guided in Ohio and treed 3 to get in the grand 16. I've been on lots of bad casts up north but knew it's all part of it and left it at that. Corey was with me on a cast out of your home town and we on treed 1 coon. I've been lucky I guess in Batesville and drew good guides cause I've always been able to tree multiple coons. Like you have told me before don't expect to come up there and score 1000 points on a cast.
