Dan, I just texted u pictures.
Just before Chuck retired, my computer quit working and our dial up internet was so slow, I was always getting disconnected, so I didn't replace the computer. Only have a cellphone now and Photobucket had popups on it that I can't close because they take up my whole screen and won't slide.

Our son came home this AM, we went down to visit Chuck's parents and brother. Now Chuck and him are in my tree stand hoping there's a buck left to wonder by.

Dan, I tried texting pictures again. Got message they were sent.
Chuck and our son, Corey, didn't see anything tonight out of my tree stand. Chuck's brother hasn't been hunting yet...kind of waiting until their dad gets feeling better. His supervisor fired him for leaving the job, but before he came home (from Tx) the owner called and told him to take as much time as he needed. He hasn't been home for 2 yrs. He was telling us about hunting boars. They sound kind of mean, but he said he likes it better than deer hunting.

Rex good job on the big buck! Glad to see everyone out enjoying timber time.

First shotgun season opens tomorrow it's going to be crazy. I haven't had much time to go deer hunting, though I do have today & most of tomorrow off.

Lately Grace has been the roaming troublemaker. Last week a nice English man came into the store asking who did the bloody beautiful hound belong too? Staff & customers pointed to me. He had seen her along the road she hopped right in his Audi Suv & she was a muddy dirty mess. I cringed when I saw the mess on his leather seat, he had it on heat because she was shivering. Last Monday she disappeared again by Wednesday we figured she was gone for good. Nope I noticed a small truck at the top of the drive, shortly after she was ready to come in with the pups.

If it isn't my hounds running it's the neighbor's hired hand's blueticks. His made it down to Winterset & found a nice family until she posted on FB for the owner to come get them because her husband & kids are getting too attached.

Thanks Hayseed, that's only the second legal buck I've seen out of my tree stand in 7 yrs, so it was a real shock to see him the first thing in the AM.
Can't believe u can let ur dogs run in deer season. This wk FB and Pgh news has had stories on about a hunter in OH, shooting 2 dogs (a Weimerwimer(?) and a Doberman) that got loose and ran near his tree stand. The guy said he was BORED and wanted to shoot something!!! He got fired from his job and may go to jail.

Doe season starts here tomorrow. There were 6 in the orchard tonight. Chuck said he wasn't cutting another one up so I could put my Mohawk away 😞

I wanted to take the dogs out tonight, but windchill is 19° so guess we're staying home.

Thanks, Rob. Did u get any deer?
Nate on the 2016 Buck thread offered to help me post pictures of our bucks. I put pictures of Chuck's 10 pt (on the stove simmering) and my buck where I found him on that thread. I saw ur daughter's picture there and the buck Laura from UKC got...what a WOWSER!!!

Chuck's getting traps ready today. Haven't seen any fisher, saw bobcat tracks when I was riding horse, but friends that trap for them saw them, too. Hope to get a coyote this yr. A guy that just got us permission to hunt coon on his buddy's property called earlier this wk and wanted to know if Chuck wanted 2 coyotes to skin that he shot the first day of buck season. Guess they had big holes in them so he passed. We only got $7 for a nice one last yr with no damage.

There are several already going through Madison County, that pipeline is about a hour North. My brother is a site foreman for a pipeline company.

I'm in a weird area, we lock up tight against the deer hunters but you'll hear coonhounds baying all around at night. A lot of that is because the big money out of state hunters drive the locals crazy, then the road hunters who blast anything moving don't help the deer hunter's cause.

The guy East of me usually has a big group of friends & family run his place during shotgun season, he warned his group & asked if we could turn the hounds out his way about a hour before sunset. So his deer might get scared into heading back home.

The weather was so crappy hunting was pointless, just a ice cold rain/sleet mix. About 90 minutes before sunset Sunday the sun came out. I sat outside & listened to all the shots. Honestly don't think I have to worry about any of the neighbors hitting a dog, well maybe by pure accident.

LOL...that's what almost got me and did get my husband. But he didn't get shot in deer season. He was shot by a 22 on a summer day. The PSP told us at least 5 teenagers including 2 of my brothers were at the dump shooting rats that day.

Thanks, WB.

Friends were hunting in my tree stand this afternoon. I was watching Judge Judy and noticed Dandy looking out the window...there were 6 does standing behind the house! I texted them and told them to sneak out, but they didn't get the text until they walked out. It was a tad difficult not to go load my gun and try to get one, but the freezer is full and his parents don't want one.

MORNING ALL
38 HERE AND WINDY. WE HAD FREEZING RAIN LAST EVE.

REX RIDGE,
WELL FROM MY EXPERIENCES THE DEER HUNTERS HAVE AN AWFUL LOT OF IDIOTS. AROUND HERE THAT IS WHY MOST OF THE PROPERTY GETS POSTED IS FOR CRAP PEOPLE DEER HUNTING DO. SUCH AS CUTTING FENCES SO THEY CAN RIDE THERE FOUR WHEELERS ONTO PROPERTY THEY DO NOT HAVE PERMISSION TO HUNT. LITTERING. DRIVING ON FIELDS AND RUTTING THEM UP. STEALING EACH OTHERS GAME CAMS AND TREE STANDS ETC. NOT TO MENTION WHEN SOMEONE FROM THE BIGGER CITIES COME TO THE RURAL AREAS, NOW THERE ARE SOME REAL CLOWNS.

WV COON RUNNER,
THERE IS A LOT OF TIME PUT INTO THOSE BEAR HOUNDS AND HUNTING THEM. I HAVE HUNTED BEAR WITH HOUNDS. I DO NOT WANT TO OWN ONE BESIDES IS SO FAR FROM HERE FOR ME TO BE ABLE TO RUN THEM LEGALLY. MD WILL NOT LET US RUN THEM WITH DOGS.

We have lots of city folk/campers in our county. The DA said they act like there's NO LAW in our county. When Chuck was a deputy game warden, he arrested some guys for driving and camping on private property. The magistrate asked them at the hearing if they would be Ok with people coming to their town and camping on their property? Of course, they said NO.

That deer hunter shooting those dogs in OH has been on FB and PGH news. He did it because he was bored and wanted to shoot something. I feel so sorry for their owner.

We don't usually hunt coon the first wk of deer season because we're afraid if we loose the dogs that someone will shoot them in the AM when they go out hunting or if they wonder into their camp yd. We might go out tonight because they seem to have left. They'll probably be back Saturday for the last day.
We only have 35 acres here. Chuck has told 2 guys ...one a camper and a local to stay off our property. The local guy was making a drive just before I was going to go back to watch the food plot for the afternoon. It was just a couple of months after my back surgery and that was the only place I could hunt. He still talks to us, but he made sure everyone around knew Chuck told him to stay off our property.
The "simple camper" was sitting on a log on one of my shooting lanes!!

My parents and Chuck's parents own farms, they were never posted until about 20 yrs ago. My FIL caught guys driving through his fields and my dad found a guy hunting on his property that cut down a bunch of pine trees that my grandfather planted so he could see better!!
