bigcastledogs

The male is GR.NT.CH.RUSS"TREEIN BLU LUKE who is Spanky's sire. That picture I beleive was the first of 3 1st place wins in qualifying hunts for the "world hunt." Jodavies handled him while I was hunting Gr.NT.CH.CH. Russ'treein blu Toad. That combination was tuff to beat.
The female is Nat'l Gr.Nt.Ch.Russ' Treein BLUE kate."She" won Autumn Oaks in 1983.My first trip to the hunt at 19 yrs old.She was the original foundation & standard setter that I owned,Also the mother of Toad & his sire was the Bruiser dog shown above.
Kate was out of another famous cross from yester-year.Gr.Nt.Ch.Morris' Blue River Boomer & Sarisky's Queen who was a Smokey River Rambler bred female.

Any pictures of, oh lets see.....................Cory, Leaper, Leaper II, Weasel, Lumber, Bo, Zip (Old Hag!) Dottie, Jed, any other ones from the past that I am forgetting! The old Amos dog of Ringeletsetters was a nice dog too! Then you add in on the dogs that Wes had. We could be here a long time!

Thank You!

Thanks Two Toes and Jodaviess1! It is great to put names on the pix for newbies like me. Do Not get me wrong... I fell in love with a BlueTick in 1973... Just didn't get to see many living in Brookline MA, on the BU Campus!!!!
When I got our first B and T from rescue it sparked my interest some, but I channeld what little emergy I have into helping B and T rescue. However, when I stumbled onto Wyatt at Animal Control in CT... I had to ask about him-DUMB! Of course after hearing the voice... he was mine. Everytime I look at these Blue dogs I wonder who HE is??? We don't hunt him, he is retired young(PROMISE to the kids, won't do THAT again). Having him made me want to hunt again. Then... rescue was alwasy sad and I wanted GOOD coonhound stuff so, I came on here and Coondawgs.com and the rest is history. As soon as we are able (time $$$ and one less dog) we will look for our hunting dog. It'll cost a fortune, I know it.. it'll have to be able to teach US to hunt! We were kids back in the day! AND... I kinda like the looks of REALLY GOOD DOGS! So= we'll have to start bank robbing!
I appreciatte VERY much the help I get on here with Pedigrees, pictures etc, when I ask. In the beginning I think EVRYONE saw me as a rescue monster... and Anti But... I think at lest a few know me enough now to realize, I'm not! It mens alot.... sicne we are GOING to need a TON of help once we can get a coondog!
Thanks again, Heather William
PS.... Wyatt is the blue dude in my sig pix.

Mr. Jackson

I really do not hunt per say much & havn't really much since my Dual G.Ch. Zip female passed away. I do on occasion allow a few of my freinds to drag me out every now and again.
I have a knee with 7 surgeries on it that hinders me some.My job has me on the road all week livin in motels. Not very conducive to being competative in the hunts.
I have turned into a whitetail freak I guess.Try to hunt in a few states each year, primarily bowhunt & a shed huntin fool. Also collect sheds of all kinds.
Jodavies & Todd Ackerman pretty much took the reins And are carrying on what I had going or should I say we had going. It is a cooperative effort that a bunch of us all took part in.For someone to do the homework & compete on a scale with multiple dogs like we had going on is bout impossable to do alone. These 2 guys where such a huge part of all that that I do not think words really describe the effects that they put forth for one reason only & that was because they beleived in the dog hide that was strapped inside the collar on the end of their leash!!
There are others as well but not like these 2 day in day out.
Jodavies, oh hell I am gonna call him Perry has been one of my closest freinds & comrads since the beginning for the most part.
I can tell you this that 25 yrs ago we had visions of an all grand litter which was done with top shelf females stacked in and producing independent natural lay up dogs that are good looking & yard dog type intelligents. The personality of these dogs never cease's to amaze me.Was always told that hounds are not suppose to be that way!
Perry's Oppy dog is all of that in one blue hide & reproducing his likeness.I have seen it numerous times !! Impressive even to a used to be coonhunter!
Not ruling out the chance that I may not blow the cob webs off & give it a go again someday, still have 3 females here that I probably really shouldn't have but my son's hunt them here and there. We refer to them as aged pups LOL!!
If'n I was wanting me a fresh peice of blue pie I know where I would aim my truck!!

Blue

Zach always good to see someone new gettin excited about goin to the hunts.I need to drift out and have a look at Mitch's dogs! would be pretty cool to me to see what he has layin around.
I always liked Mitch,he always had a plan for down the road you know 2 or 3 generations unlike most of them that are just tryin to cash in on a stud dogs fame!
You have a good mentor there, listen to him and the crew your traveling with & you will encounter a lot less speed bumps on your way!! Good luck in preston I hope you whip some**s & take down some names!! At the very least have a good time!!
Perry you tell Buck to take his snake leggins? Buckskinin weekend in Prairie,90 this go around, could be a few timber rattler's slidin into tents again LOL!! Get that tely charged up yet ??

PICTURES

THESE THAT I HAVE POSTED ONLY SCRATCH THE SURFACE. THESE DOGS ARE ONE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT THINGS THAT HAVE BEEN A PART OF MORE THAN HALF OF MY LIFE. I HAVE A TON OF PICTURES TO DOCUMENT SOME OF WHAT THEY HAVE ACHIEVED AND AM WORKING ON GETTING THEM ON HERE. THE BLUETICK WORLD AS WE NOW KNOW IT WOULD BENEFIT BY USING THESE DOGS IN THEIR PROGRAM AND I WILL DO MY PART TO TRY AND INFLUENCE THIS. PERRY

I would like to see a book...

.... devoted to BlueTicks. I'd buy it. Same with the other coonhound varieties... Not junky little petstore books but Quality pix and history and breeding and training and performance info. In the mean time.... keep the pix coming with info as well!!!!
Thanks for sharing! Heather WIlliam

The thing is

Everyone likes different things out of a dog so pretty hard to say who or which was or is the best ! What some like we wouldn't feed & what we liked others may not feed !!~! The important part is that it is supposed to be a common interest,to better the breed by utilizing which ever blows your skirt up! The only thing that matters is that you like what you feed !
There are dogs that have been dead for many years that may wax your hiny!!
The important thing is that those same dogs had something to do with what we all hunt today whether ya'll want to hear it or not. There is not a single"line" of dogs that have remained pure since the beginning!
It is what you do with them now to continue on what was started during the conception of the breed and through the years and generations down the road that matters. There are some that may have a 2nd generation that they like & a lot that will not have a 3rd,MANY!!
The list of people that have several generations of consistant winners and or reproducers is fairly short.Anyone can get lucky and have a good one out of their stuff but not many carry on and carry on some more.
This breed has been built by these "breeders" that are consistently lookin with "both eye's open " down the road to better and perfect what was started by the founders of this breed!!
Everyone has objective opinion's on "the best" and that "is"important.Foundations have been set and it is what you do with it that does matter.
There are people that consistently have good dogs but they buy them, then there are some and I feel this is a short list, that raise them,do their homework, watch them grow and utilize what they have learned, with both eye's open & an open mind that are breeders.Anybody can buy a dog today & hunt it tomorrow. If that blows your skirt up thats all good to! It's all part of the game!
These dogs will all play a part in what develops down the road! There are cross' made everyday that will not impact the breed and there are some made every day that will.
Few people truly understand or are open minded enough about what they are hauling to continue down the road & be successful with it for generations.
One of the biggest faults in "owners" that I have seen is the lack of open mindedness about there own stuff. You have to be this way to become a successful breeder. There are good & bad traits about everyone of them suckin air through their nose & it's whether you can see it or not that will impact what you feed tomorrow.
What I am saying here is in order to succeed as a breeder, if that is your desire, you need to be "critical" of your own like's & dislikes. If you can't objectivly see it then there is little chance of establishing what some like to call a "line" of dogs.If that is not a desire then there is always something to buy if you look hard enough.Again to each his or her own!!
It has takin a whole lot of huntin & haulin to get to the point we are all at today.
So "the best" is perceived differently by each of us which is a good thing no matter what flavor you fancy! They are just as important today as they will be 20 yrs from now.Strong natural individuals impact pedigree's for ever not just "a" litter.Go after what 'YOU' want not what everyone else wants! The "best list" is way to long for even the electronic coonhunters of today!! We all have favorites and that is what the Bluetick, black & tan, walker, plott, english, redbone's have been built by.Different likes and dislikes are good for all of us period !!
Best of luck with your chosen direction,it aqll matter's !!
