The important part is that it is supposed to be a common interest,to better the breed by utilizing which ever blows your skirt up! The only thing that matters is that you like what you feed !
There are dogs that have been dead for many years that may wax your hiny!!
The important thing is that those same dogs had something to do with what we all hunt today whether ya'll want to hear it or not. There is not a single"line" of dogs that have remained pure since the beginning!
It is what you do with them now to continue on what was started during the conception of the breed and through the years and generations down the road that matters. There are some that may have a 2nd generation that they like & a lot that will not have a 3rd,MANY!!
The list of people that have several generations of consistant winners and or reproducers is fairly short.Anyone can get lucky and have a good one out of their stuff but not many carry on and carry on some more.
This breed has been built by these "breeders" that are consistently lookin with "both eye's open " down the road to better and perfect what was started by the founders of this breed!!
Everyone has objective opinion's on "the best" and that "is"important.Foundations have been set and it is what you do with it that does matter.
There are people that consistently have good dogs but they buy them, then there are some and I feel this is a short list, that raise them,do their homework, watch them grow and utilize what they have learned, with both eye's open & an open mind that are breeders.Anybody can buy a dog today & hunt it tomorrow. If that blows your skirt up thats all good to! It's all part of the game!
These dogs will all play a part in what develops down the road! There are cross' made everyday that will not impact the breed and there are some made every day that will.
Few people truly understand or are open minded enough about what they are hauling to continue down the road & be successful with it for generations.
One of the biggest faults in "owners" that I have seen is the lack of open mindedness about there own stuff. You have to be this way to become a successful breeder. There are good & bad traits about everyone of them suckin air through their nose & it's whether you can see it or not that will impact what you feed tomorrow.
What I am saying here is in order to succeed as a breeder, if that is your desire, you need to be "critical" of your own like's & dislikes. If you can't objectivly see it then there is little chance of establishing what some like to call a "line" of dogs.If that is not a desire then there is always something to buy if you look hard enough.Again to each his or her own!!
It has takin a whole lot of huntin & haulin to get to the point we are all at today.
So "the best" is perceived differently by each of us which is a good thing no matter what flavor you fancy! They are just as important today as they will be 20 yrs from now.Strong natural individuals impact pedigree's for ever not just "a" litter.Go after what 'YOU' want not what everyone else wants! The "best list" is way to long for even the electronic coonhunters of today!! We all have favorites and that is what the Bluetick, black & tan, walker, plott, english, redbone's have been built by.Different likes and dislikes are good for all of us period !!
Best of luck with your chosen direction,it aqll matter's !!
I imagine that this is pretty good reading. But I just aint into all THAT MUCH reading. Could you sum it up??
