Oh my goodness, as I get older my reading comprehension skills get worse and worse. I thought that you were asking how much money should a handler get paid to hunt a dog in the hunts. You got several responses and I thought that we were discussing them. Isn't this a public forum for discussions pertaining to coonhounds? I am sorry if you didn't like my response.

Maybe I stated it wrong. I don't think that a handler should get paid any money other than expenses to hunt a dog in a UKC hunt.

Time is money. UKC hunts maybe cheaper with less competition but they still take time to enter & compete..

My opinion...

I try and treat the handler like I would want to be treated. If he goes to a hunt that is gonna require an overnight stay, I pay for his gas, room, food, entry, plus a little extra for going and we split any winnings.

Local hunts, I pay $50 per hunt and he keeps all winnings.

I don't do it all the time because I can't afford it, but when I do send a dog, I will take care of the handler as long as he is doing my dog right.

I had rather pay too much than do someone wrong.

Re: what should a handler expect

Exactly what he or she agreed to before he or she ever took the dog. What did Lebron James expect when he went to Cleveland? That was settled before the ball bounced once.

Dalton our son expects 6 pack Gatoraid, Oreos, Pringles, roll of chew, gas money, hotel reservation and paid for, entry fee, food allowance and the dog to be hunted up and ready to go. I'm thinking we can find someone cheaper lol.
