I DON'T LIKE REALLY HUNTING AGAINST JUST REDBONES,I DON'T PUT MY BEST EFFORT OUT,IT IS KIND LIKE BEATING UP ON MY BROTHER,AND I DID NOT MAKE IT TO 60 WITH STUPID ON MY FORHEAD,THERE IS A CASINO ON EVERY CORNER IN OKLAHOMA YOU PLAY IN THERE HOUSE WITH THERE RULES,I HAVE SEEN A LOT PEOPLE GO BROKE DOING THAT,THAT BEING SAID I WOULD PUT IN $500 ADDED MONEY TO HAVE A HUNT LIKE THIS IN OKLAHOMA,UNDER UKC RULES AND IT BE HELD IN AUG. OR FEB.,THOSE 2 MONTHS ARE THE HARDEST TIMES TO TREE COON HERE,SO IF YOU HAVE A DOG THAT CAN BEAT ME AT THAT TIME IN MY BACKYARD I AM MORE THAN GLAD TO GIVE $500 AND I WONT TO BREED TO IT.

Ok but I will require a negative brucellosis test before you can breed to him though.

Oh my goodness, now who would want to hunt in those kinds of conditions when coons are the hardest to tree? I don't even hunt around here when I know that they are only going to have "dead" casts. I would much rather hunt where I know that we can tree coons.

YES RICHARD,WHEN YOU HAVE A DOG THAT HAS THE DRIVE AND ABILITY TO TREE A COON WHEN NOTHING ELSE CAN THAT IS A COONDOG,THIS IS WHAT IS LACKING IN A LOT OF REDBONES,THIS WHAT I AM BREEDING FOR AND WHY I WOULD LIKE TO HAVE A HUNT LIKE THIS,THIS MAY NOT BE THE TYPE OF DOG EVERY REDBONE HUNTER WANTS,BUT IS THE KIND I WANT AND IT IS THE KIND YOU CAN GET HANDLERS THAT HANDLE OTHER BREEDS OF DOGS TO BUY AND HUNT OUT THIS WAY.

I respectfuly disagree.
I am of the opinion that the fewer coon that are available to be treed, the more LUCK is involved in winning.
If my dog goes left on the creek and yours goes right and the only coon within hearing is to the left, thats just lucky for me.
Not saying it dont take a coondog, but all 16 of those dogs will be coondogs, put them in some coons so the cream can rise to the top.

A couple of years ago I started a thread about a similar type elimination style redbone hunt and by the time everyone got done picking it apart and adding their own requirements if they were to participate the whole thing fell apart.
That's why it's best to use an established registry and rules format and say this is how it will be and where it will be and when it will be and see who thinks enough of their dog to show up and pay the entry fee and actually compete.
By everyone saying it needs to be this way and that way and move it to their location because they think that is the only place a real dog can tree a coon just ruins it for most people.
Have it in a central location for most hunters
Have it sanctioned so there are established rules and consequences for deviating from those rules.
Try to have the best guides and non hunting judges ...even if it means paying for them.
And regardless of what time of the year don't hold it on a weekend when there is another major event somewhere else.
If you do this...you may have a successful hunt that when a dog wins it....it may actually get some respect with the win.
Any hunt that is held at the organizers home club where he has several dogs entered and he judges and or guides and hand picks the other judges and guide will always make many people leery of traveling a great distance to compete in it. I know I sure don't like to drive half a day to compete in hunts where everything is already set up to benefit those who are in charge of the hunt and are hunting their own dogs in it too....

I AM NOT LOOKING FOR A DOG AND I DON'T HUNT DOGS THAT CAN ONLY TREE COON IN THICK COON COUNTRY,I HUNT WHERE COON ARE THIN AND A DOG MUST GO HUNTING TO TREE COON,THAT IS WHAT I AM LOOKING FOR AND BREED FOR,IF I LIVED AND HUNTED WHERE COON WAS THICK,I WOULD WANT JUST A TREEDOG.I LIKE A GOOD TREEDOG,BUT A DOG MUST GO HUNTING AND WORK A TRACK GOOD FOR ME.

I too live in thin coon and need a dog that will go hunting. If I'm going to a competition hunt I wan't to be put in coon, the more the better. I'll pick a hunt in thick coon everythime over a hunt in an area that doesn't have many coon. Not because my dog won't go hunting and tree a coon, because I want an action packed cast where every dog has the oppurtunity to win, not a cast where one coon is seen in 2 hours and whichever dog got lucky and hit it first wins. If I wanted to see one coon in 2 hours I'd just stay home and hunt.

LUCK COMES INTO PLAY IN THICK OR THIN COON,WHEN YOU CUT A DOG LOOSE IN A CAST 3 THINGS COME INTO PLAY,LUCK,HANDLING,AND DOG POWER,YOU CAN ONLY HAVE ONE OF THEM WORK FOR YOU AND STILL WIN,OR 1 NOT WORK FOR YOU AND LOOSE,I GO OFF FROM HERE AND HUNT IN THICK COON AND THIN COON,I HUNT IN HOT WEATHER AND COLD WEATHER,I WOULD JUST LIKE TO SEE SOME REDBONE'S HUNT IN OKLAHOMA.

I have seen very few dogs come from thin coon country be able to tree coon after coon after coon in Michigan and rack up a score over a thousand points in two hours. They usually are good for 2-3 coons in a hunt like that. But a dog from the upper Midwest who is used to that kind of action can do it on a regular basis...if the coons are there to find. Up here you have to have one that you can walk a minute and cut again...over and over maybe 6-10 times during a 2hr hunt. That just blows some dogs minds who are from down south and are used to treeing one...maybe 2 coons in a 2 hour hunt.
Not saying one type is better than another...but they are usually better in what they are used to being hunted in.

Enough about the yesteryear... If mine can't tree a coon everywhere I drop her then I won't be going to hunts all over the country. Lol

We need to 4 more to have this hunt or 8 more entry's to fill this hunt!

Oh my goodness, it looks like we have woken the bear up by poking at him with that stick.

Actually it's not my house or my rules, it's 9.5 hours from me & CHKC rules

As far as drawing you, yes you've got nice red dogs but I've drew your dogs 4 times & a guy that hunted breeze drew Rusty 1 time & said he looked real good... Rusty is 0/2 against Cali, 1/0 against breeze, Daisy is 1/0 against G-Man, & the old rusty is 0/1 against me & a walker female. Not taking anything away from your dogs at all, just stating that I wouldn't go across country with a dog that won't tree a coon anywhere I drop it.
