There sure was a lot of Redbone "years" sitting around that little fire, Danny Barrett, Kenneth Hurst, Ed Collier Sr and Terry Ramey. I wonder just how many Big Time Redbone Winners/World Champions that they have had a hand in training/hunting? It sure was nice just sitting next to them and listening to their stories. The warm weather sure brought out a lot of old timers this year.

It doesn't look like there is going to be an official list of winners from SNRD so here is a partial list of the unofficial winners.....

Tim Boling and Firecracker won their cast one night
Terry Ramey and Skeeter was the Overall Opposite Sex winner
Little Jayroe and Pigeon River Big Red Jim got 2 wins
Robbie and Billy got 2 wins and Overall
Danny Barrett/Rex got another NtCh win with Gus the wonder dog
Shannon/Jason got 2 reg wins with Rock, a young Haze pup, to make him a Nt Ch
Andy Harris got a couple of Reg wins with a young male
James Atwell a "new" Redbone man won with Train on Thursday

There were a lot more winners but with my old worn out brain, I am doing good to remember these.

Well SNRD have come and gone again. The weather was perfect this year with the exception of the full moon but I am not complaining. I got to hunt with some different dogs each night. Wish I could have hunted a little longer on Thursday but my dog liked a possum to much. On Friday I drew a Haze pup and a Rocky pup. Roc ended up with 375 and a 1st place win. On Sat night Roc stayed out of trouble and ended up winning the cast. This cast win finished him to Nite Champion with 2 first and a fifth. On Sat night I drew a four dog cast and got to see a Billy the Kidd and Willow pup go. I was impresses with Billy. He is loud and a super hard tree dog. I liked what I saw.
Eno River did a great job once again! Thanks for all the hard work to put on a great event.
I had a good time talking to Kenneth Hurst, Terry Ramey and some of the other guys that were there. Congrats to all the cast winners.

I didnt get there until right before the deadline. I spoke with Mike Mayo briefly while trying to round up the people picking pups up but never got over to see his Billy pup before we drawed out. Its good to hear some news on him. I think Wendell is pretty fond of his sister storm and I just love my brother to them so it looks like Willow is going to throw coon dogs from every litter

Smart Landowner

This landowner knew that Wendell Bond was coming to Southern Days and decided to put this warning up for him......guess it didn't work.

Richard, you left out the most important coonhunter you met all weekend:

We had a great time, I know Eli wasn't the competition handler but he and I both had walked many a mile behind Mac keeping him tuned up and exposing him to new challenges here at home so it sure felt great Eli was part of a "big" win. The boy loves to spot the coon and was quickly yelling at Shane he could see the coon's tail at Mac's last tree as soon as the light went up!

I appreciate the hospitality of everyone we met, hope to make a full 3 days next year. Maybe next time Eli will try a "snotty oyster". 😆

Congrats to all the winners. It looks like you guys had a great time, even if you guys were eating BBQ Coon.

Adam, that grin about sums it up for all of us.

Jared, when you were raised in the South, you learn to eat what you can get.

Adam, I never get tired of seeing the grins on the kids when they are holding those trophies. I have taken mine to several hunts and they always have a good time. I have a 7 year old boy , 4 year old girl, and an 8 month old girl. The 4 year old girl loves to go as much as the my son.

Richard, I guess you are right about the coon, but i will stick with the beef and pork.....
