Good news this time!Well considering my last post, just about anything I have to say is good news lol. So here's the skinny...
Last Monday I took a trip South to meet Roger in Alma, Ga to pick up Mine, his, and Rocky's new female, Ginger. Ginger is the Big River Dan x Sudden Sandy female and she was just as nice looking in person as she was in the picture. I left from there and headed North to Rocky's which was about 2 and a half hours away.
We hunted Steel, Lola, and Gin. The first dump we cast them and they got deep. Steel treed first, Lola Second, and Gin treed 3rd about a minute after lola treed. Plus em.
Next, we cast Lola and Gin alone. They got in there deep without a bark when Lola basically just fell treed. Gin fell in right behind her. Circle em up
The 3rd drop we cut Gin alone and she went around 100 yards, got struck, and treed at about 300 on a den.
Drop 4 we cast Lola and Gin... Gin struck first and treed ahead of Lola on a questionable tree.. Rock and I both felt like it was slick, but you really couldn't shine the whole thing. We recast them off that tree and they got deep again. Gin struck first and treed first again. After a long walk through a briar thicket, we got to their tree and found them on another den.
Tuesday night me and Zac took a trip to my club and hunted Steel and Gin. We got a pleasent suprise....
Dump 1, we cast them down a branch off of a pond dam. Steel opened up once around 200 yards, and Gin wasn't making a sound. Gin struck and when she did, she was treed. We walked in to the tree about 300ish yards away and found the coon. She did a nice job on that lay up.
Drop 2 we cast them down the edge of another branch off of that same pond. Gin struck quick and treed 1st around 500 yards in. They were on a den tree, but we were clearly able to find the coon. Plus em.
On #3 We sent them down a huge creek where they again got struck quick Gin took another 1st and 1st on Steel and we walked in to find the coon.
We weren't terribly far from the truck, only around 400 yards, so I decided to Recast them. They looped around and Steel struck. Gin followed in. after a couple minutes of looping around Steel locked in treed. Gin tried to work away from the tree, but couldn't and covered steel. To our suprise, Steel had laid a coon up on Gin. Plus em.
The final drop is where Gin really showed her stuff. We cast them on the same large creek about a mile down, and Gin struck first. She drove that track so fast and hard that she treed about 45 seconds ahead of Steel. Plus em.
I was impressed with Gin and her ability to jam coon. She's a little more choppy on track than what I like, but if she continues to tree coon the way she did, I can tolerate a chop mouth lol. I can't wait to put her through more tests and see how she really holds up.
