Persistence Pays Off
This morning I could hear 6 different gobblers on the roost. It darn near sounded like a crescendo. By 7:30 am I had 5 gobblers spread out between 80-120 yards. By 9:30 they all had left the field.
I have to admit it was getting warm, and I dosed off. I woke with a start. There was a fan about 80 yards and closing. I did some soft purrs a clucks on the slate. Then I seen some movement to my right. It was a hen skirting the blind just to my right.
The big boy was coming right at me. I had a jake decoy about 12 yards away. Just as the ole tom pulled up along side of the decoy, I arrow released. He went up and straight down as the slick trick did its job.

He was 21.7 lbs. with a 10" beard and (2) 1 1/8" spurs.
