I like the sw bodyguard too. I don't think the laser adds much to the self defense effectiveness but I do like the added safety. I think it's what i'll get for my wife to carry.

JmillerFL nailed it, without a central nervous system hit no pistol will drop a guy in his tracks. We are taught, two in the chest, one in the head for a reason. Really it boils down to what you are comfortable with and what you can shoot accurately. I don't go anywhere without carrying, and I don't advertise the fact by carrying a hand cannon that's tough to conceal. Never thought I'd live to see the day when I would have to carry a gun..............but it's here.

I grew up in Alabama and I recall seeing my dad carrying a 38 w/6" barrel in his waist, Mexican style, as we walked the streets of Bessemer. I thought then that he stood out like a sore thumb but that's how he saw things then. He was an activist and I learned from him.

Why do all if you like the pocket guns so much. I hate the trigger pull, low round capacity and find them really difficult to draw and grip. I also am not a fan of .380. It's like a 9mm for girls. They have the same size bullet with half the powder. Which means less penetration. If I did carry a pocket pistol it would be for back up. That's what they are made for

It's not so much liking the caliber or the gun, it's the size and the need to really hide it. I love my Browning Hi-Power, but I cannot carry a gun that big in the summertime and not have the world know. So called "deep concealment" guns are the smallest to hide them easily. You are right, the triggers on most of them are pretty bad. But for what they can do anyway the trigger is a trade off to be able to carry and hide a gun that small. If you had to use it you would probably be shooting so close you wont aim and wont feel how bad the trigger is anyway. The Kimber Solo has a nice trigger but you pay for it.

I carry the ruger sr40c. No problems hiding it and non of the problems that you have with a pocket gun. To each his own but they aren't for me.

Re: Concealed

I have the SW Shield .40. When I bought the Shield it was between that and the Ruger LC9. I shot them both and preferred the feel of the .40.

I usually keep the extended mag with me. I need to get a mag pouch of some sort. Last thing I would want to do is run out of ammo

Does anyone know the incident rate of people defending themselves and running out of bullets. The rate of people defending themselves is very low and often times they fire one shot and miss and just show their weapon to defend themselves. I suspect, though I have no way of knowing, that the rate is extremely low for running out of bullets.

We had a constable here years ago that carried a .22 High Standard revolver as his service weapon. Everybody laughed and joked about his "pea shooter". He finally had enough of the jokes and offered anybody the chance to bend over and let him shoot them in the @$$ to see if it shot peas. To my knowledge, no one took him up on his offer0

I would have made fun of him too. Jmo but anyone who would carry anything smaller then a 9mm for personal protection is just crazy, dumb, or both.

You are right. I did a little research and found that there cases of more than one man trying to break into a house. Just recently a women emptied her glock, I think, before she stopped the two men breaking into her house.
If I opened carried I'd carry a big gun with many bullets but since I'm a small man it's hard to conceal anything but the smallest pistol.
