While the open trailer lets his coon know he's coming way before that. The difference is that the silent dog leaves his coon with no chance to even think about running on and possibly making it back to his den tree never to be seen {zero plus points.}
No not joking at all. I also totally disagree with you. I have been at this for along time and have never seen where a silent dog has any advantage over an open trailing dog. JMO

Like mentioned above, if what you say is true, why are all the open trailing hounds winning the money hunts?? You CAN hunt silent dogs in the money hunts and I sure don't see them doing nearly as much winning as open trailing hounds.MOST ALL consistent winners are open trailing.

So my answer is this, no I was not joking.

As long as there is strike points, a dog that gets struck quick will win most hunts. High percentage, like 90%. If there were no strike points then a silent dog, may win more hunts , if allowed to run them. But no strike points equalls more me to dogs. And no point to have hunts. Because part of being a coondog is finding a coon track and get it treed. If hunts were all strike for 25, all strikes then bet there be more even playing field. Jmo.

Take two dogs that are equal in every way as far as ability, hunt, trackpower, etc. Enter them in pkc hunts, because they are allowed in those hunts, and the open trail dog will win nearly every time. A silent hound has to tree an extra coon to catch up on the scorecard. JMO and a lot of others. Been in this discussion several times.
