Jason

A little scent goes a long ways. A spray or two is plenty. Be careful not to over do it. Keep it short at first. For me,I like the pups to be around 10 to 12 weeks but I have started some earlier. Good luck with it and if ya have a ? feel free to ask! Later,Danny G.

Pups progress

Well, sorry to say they have been on the back burner of late. Been hunting Alice II aka Sassy trying to get her hunted down for the oilfield $5000 hunt coming up. I have been hunting the young hound out of Gauge a bit also. Last time I hunted him with a friend of mine,he sat treed behind an older hound and had the coon. He needs to be hunted more but as of now,it's going to have to wait till I free up some time. I'm looking foward to the big money hunt but worry about some things I have going on at this time and wether I'll make the hunt or not. Going to be a last minute decision looks like!! Still don't have a hotel room booked as of now! Bussiness comes first I guess. Hopefully I'll get back to the pups soon! Later,Danny G.

Pups progress report!

Gauge and 6 Pack male pup is doing good. I haven't hunted much due to continuos problems with the alpha 100. Hunted tonite after they sent me a new one. All is fine so far. Just made 2 drops with Alice II and came back home. Been getting good reports of Gauge and Alice pups starting to tree turn loose coons. 5 out of the bunch have done so. Mine have been waiting for me to get back at it. I did hunt a pup I call Swimmer with Alice II and he went off by hisself and got bayed up in a road culvert I see coon go in all the time. He was 377 yards one direction and Alice II 477 yards treed the other way. He did stay until I got to him. Other than that, nothing going on with the other 3 male pups I have here.Ron Jackson says his 2 did real nice on a turn loose coon, said the male pup was real impressive for not being 6 months old yet. Female did real nice also. Looks like I'm gonna have to pick up the pace a bit!! Later,Danny G.

Update on the pups

Gauge and 6 pack male is heading back to Kevin's in NY. Kevin has alot less coons in his part of the country so Gauge pup will be forced to go hunting to find one which will do him good. Ron Jackson took his male pup out by hisself for the first time after turning loose a couple coons to him earlier in the week which he did good on. He called last nite to tell me his pup treed his first coon by hisself and did real nice for just being 5 1/2 months old.Ron's excited about both of his pups he has from this cross. Gonna get started with hunting mine just as soon as I shake this sinus infection and bronchitus out of my system. Gonna set some traps later today and go from there. Hopefully I can get some videos of these pups treeing some wild coons here soon. I don't think it will take much at this time, thier ready to take on the challenge and do what they were bred to do,tree ole ricky!! Later,Danny G.

Panic and Swimmer

I had a good time with 2 pups tonite. I turned thier first and only coon loose and gave it a head start and released the pups afterwords. Both pups opened up on track and in a short time let me know they had little ricky treed so I went into them and praised them up for a job well done and did what I had to do and came back home. These 2 pups are ready for the timber a couple nites a week when our season comes in. I'm pretty confident that if they run a track and ole ricky climbs, these 2 pups will be parked under his behind doing what they were bred to do. Both seem to be doing well for not 6 months old yet. The other 2 male pups will get some live action on Monday nite and I'm certain the results will be the same for them. These pups have been fun messing with and soon the time will come when all the time spent comes to the forfront and you can sit back and watch and enjoy them as they progress and learn to put ole ricky up a tree nite in and nite out. still needing to narrow down on 1 pup, just don't know which one at this time. I like them all so far. As of now,9 out of 11 pups have either treed thier own coon in the wild or treed a turn loose coon and 1 of the 9 split trees like she's been doing it all her life. Just 2 more to go to make it all 11. They'll be 6 months old on Nov. 6th Soon, season will be in and I'll post some vids of the pups as they get older, looks like the ole net has once again made life easy for me in training these pups!! Later,Danny G.

Lay in there with them Danny! Good to see you messing with some young dogs, you always do a good job getting them going. Enjoying what you are doing is fuel for the cause!

It was great to see you in Martinsville last weekend and swap some lies about these ole blue haired potlickers! I always enjoy talking with you. Best of luck with those young dogs this season, I hope you have a blast with them!

Take care,

RAIN

Here ya go Danny. Rain treed on her first wild coon alone right at dark tonight. Took her down by the slough behind the house and she struck hot and smoked him about 200yds and treed solid on a turkey pine and he was there. She has treed the 2 drags I laid, 2 out of 3 turned loose coons and this one tonight. I caught her off track on first turned out coon because she got near a road or she might have treed him. She looks great so far and is a great handling, smart little hound. Take Care and Good Hunting!

Vic and Steve

Vic,I once again enjoyed shooting the breeze with you as always. It's been quite some time since we hunted together. As far as messin with the youngins,I've always enjoyed that part of it the most. Lot's of fun at times and agrivating at others.

Steve, looks like Rain is well on her way to treeing a bunch of coons as she gets older. I'm really liking what I'm seeing first hand and hearing from others how this cross is doing overall. Maybe there's a freak of nature in one of the 11 pups. I'm excited to get mine in the timber bit smart enough to know that thier still very young so lot's of patients needed and not over hunt them. Good luck with Rain and Vic,till we meet again, good hunting,Danny G.

Hook and Speck

These two pups from this cross have both treed 2 coon each in the wild, they treed one together and one each by their self! At 6 months old it is almost freakish to me. I have had one other pup like this and she set the bar pretty high(Cold Run Blue Lucy). The hard part now when they are this young is not over hunting them and not making obvious mistakes on my part. Can't tell at this age if they will finish out to be a keeper but they will for sure be given the opportunity to earn their keep. Good Cross Danny!

X 2! You couldn't ask for 6 month old pups to be showing any more promise than these on becoming future cooners. Good Cross and proud I got RAIN!

Exciting first nite for Swimmer and Steel

Dkfoye, sorry,no females left!! Great nite!!Nick Mares sent me a tx and told me Steel split treed tonite and had a coon. That was Steel's first nite in the timber. I did turn 2 coon loose for him that he finished before hand but tonite was his nite to shine.Nick is going to be half owner of one of these pups. I assured him this pup,Steel would tree a coon if it's the right kind of track, split treed, that's even better yet. I bet ya Nick was on cloud nine. This young man loves to coon hunt!!My nite wasn't so bad either!I took Swimmer out tonite and to say the least,I was even impressed with what he done tonite. Not only did he tree 2 doubles but the first track took him into a huge cornfield only to have him head towards a main highway,St.rte 224 so I high tailed it out to the road to cut him off. As he got towards the end of the cornfield by the road,he came treed beside some ole RR tracks with 2 coons sitting above him. I wasn't supposed to be there so no vid on this tree but you know how it goes, one of them coons hit the ground dead!! I was proud of him. He ran that track just over 1/2 mile opening up just right and finished it in style. I petted him up while chewin on the coon and then headed back to the truck. I decided to go another drop with him. I cut him into a piece of hardwoods and he got struck 148 yds in,opened here and there, ran the track 100 yards or so and came treed so I headed to him. I don't wait to long before heading to a 6 month old pup treed. They have all thier life to become all nite tree dogs. On the way in,saw 2 sets of eyeballs lookin at me,boy was I pumped then. Went in and petted him up and rolled out 1 of the 2 huge coons he had above him. This pup not only likes to tree,he is showing me right up front that he can do a heck of a job on the tracking part also!!He's a combo of Jet 8,his grand dad and Gauge, his sire in looks. Built just like I like one to be with great natural ability to tree ole ricky!! Gotta love huntin pups!! Couple pics form tonite with video of the last tree to come in the morning after I get the coffee started!!Later,Danny G.

Unfortunately,he's on the back burner for now. Nothing wrong with him,he's gonna make a hound, just to many to mess with at this time. A friend of mine wants to buy him,he may get the chance to do so. For now,Prime and Panic will get most of the attention here for another week or two. Sometimes having to many pups you like can be a bad thing, that's the case here now for the time being! It's been tough going!

Well, once again we have this great Ohio weather at the start of season. First week, not to bad but starting tonite,1 to 3 inchs of snow by Monday eve. Forecast for next week, highs in the low 20's,lows in the low teens and single digets with additional snow on Tues. It's tough to try and hunt old dogs in these conditions not alone 6 month old pups. Last nite, ground was frozen up early and didn't have much success so looks like it may be a bit before the weather gets better if it does at all. Going into TSC this morning to get some tarps to wrap around the sides and the back side of the kennel. Me and shoveling a bunch of snow out of the kennels don't see eye to eye as I get older. Hopefully I can get these pups more timber time but for now,I'll be spending my time in the garage working on all my rods, reels and tackle and the bass boat gearing up for next years bass tournaments till the weather breaks. Pups are all doing ok for the time they have been hunted, just wish I could carry on with them but one thing I have going for me and them, thier still very young!! It's not like they have to be hunted right now!!There comes a time when you know when to hold'em or when to fold'em,I'm fold'em for the time being. Best for the pups in the long run!! Good hunting,Danny G.

Speck (female pup)

Took Speck with my older Jet 8 male (Rocket) saturday night and had a good hunt. She split treed and was 8 feet up a leaner when I got there, scary for a minute but I was able to get to her before she got to much further up. Next track Rocket treed up a viney tree about 250 yards away and Speck treed also , coon seen and dogs rewarded! Took them over to another section about 400 yards from last tree and recut. Both dogs went in 300 yards or so and could tell by Garmin they were working a bad track, Speck opened first and they seem to be together at times but not always, Rocket treed about 500 yards in from me and Speck treed a minute or so after but came in from another direction, got to tree and they had a double. It was funny to see that big 85 pound male up on that tree with that little 40 pound female standing side by side him just letting the world know she had hers also! Wish I would have taken a picture. Rewarded for a job well done and home by 8:30. Gotta love it!

Good to see the pups coming along for you. They sure seem to be doing well for thier age. I hope Speck makes the type of hound you like and replaces the hollow spot in your heart from when Rox got killed. Keep her in the timber, she's well on her way! Later,Danny G.
Not Forsale!
Non of the 3 male pups here at the kennel are forsale! Still in the process of which one I will be letting go as they get older and more timber time and at this time he has a future home waiting for him already! Thanks,Danny G.

Got a good break with Panic tonite!!

I hunted Panic around some standing corn tonite and finally got the break he needed. This is the first nice complete job he has done to date treeing up on some kittens. He got struck in the corn worked it in and out of the edge of the woods and came back in the timber, down about 70 or so and located like he was watching them climb and went to choppin them off. I went into him, petted him a bit for a job well done, took this vid and rolled one out on him. Sure made my nite to start with. After that I decided to make another drop before the snow came down any harder. Cut him down a fence row with corn on one side, beans on the other. He worked his way down a bit,out in the corn and down the fence row, only opened 2 times, then checked a tree with a half witt locate worked it a bit more and located up again and half hearted started treeing so I went into him. He was treed up a big oak and had a coon. I believe it was laid up there for awhile! He acted like there wasn't much scent there. None the less,he comitted and had it. Rolled it out and came home. I really like this pups looks, confirmation, mouth and his style on the tree when he knows for sure he has one. I'm looking foward to hunting him more once the weather breaks! I'll post the vid after it gets done down loading,he'll impress the hard to please with this one!! Don't Panic, vid coming soon!! Later,Danny G.

Just Don't Panic!!
