What I dont get is if you already hunt PKC hunts and enjoy them spooooooooo
much better than UKC hunts why are you trying to force PKC rules down the throats of those who wish to hunt UKC?

This isn't directed at SmokyMtWrangler... Just his post reply caught my eye first.

You talk about what the sport started as. I started in the 60s, thats 50 years ago and the dogs that got alone and treed their own coon were winners then to. I will agree that back then guys usually hunted a pack during the week but that sure didnt make for better coondogs.

If the loner dogs are such big winners why do you guys feel the hitchhikers need to be further punished?

You can say good bye to 800+ cast wins. In the other KC, you are competing against 3 dogs for the night. In UKC, you are competing against the whole entry.

a dog that had to get by itself back in the day would get struck dead last every time and with only a 100 for first tree you weren't going to win so the last thing you wanted was a dead loner taking 25 points every time and this one simple concept kept the silent dogs and dead loners away today we shortened hunt increased tree points and have ruined our sport !

If you really believe that last statement then you my friend are hunting the wrong style of dogs. You no longer need 3 or 4 dogs to push a racoon up a tree in short order. Your loners are tree minded and your pack dogs arehunting track minded. Why do you think the majority of hunts are won by walker hounds? Guys realized to breed the loaners that were tree minded opposed from other breeds still breeding the pack style of dogs. Some breeds have lines of loaners and they are usually successful in any registry in the pleasure world or the competition world.

At the local club level its pretty unusual to see a 4 way split. The average small hunt cast might have 2 decent coontreers and a couple tag along dogs, and thats a recipe for disaster if one of the potlickers is a good enough cover dog to score points on both of the actual coondogs in the cast.
The how many drops ? will improve a little now that we will be able to score trees in the most convenient order.

I think you should rewrite the rule book so more coon hunters could comprehend it

Whine and cry that a dog can win without seeing eyes Now that's just from what I've saw. That's why Id like to know the ages of these breed reps. Maybe as I get even older. My thoughts might change to but I doubt it

Some of those minor leaguers will reach the majors if we don't beat them half to death with the rule book on the way up .

UKC NIGHT HUNT RULES: 50% of the cast members don't know the rules. 20% of cast members can't comprehend the rules. 15% know the rules, but don't enforce the ones they don't like. That leaves 15% that can judge a cast correctly, the other 85% will come on here and complain they got cheated.
That's after using the rules in place now for the last 3 years.

Was told that they were looking at changing how the rules were grouped together... instead of listing the rules in numeric order they were playing with listing them by what they dealt with... such as: all rules that pertain to treeing... grouped together... all rules pertaining to strike points grouped together and so forth...
