I ain't driving 2.5 hrs to watch one go tree a Coon. That's what they are bred to do... Woods are full of dogs that tree Coon alone.

I have feeders at 3 of my drops. 2 of the drops is small woods and the other is big woods. I have been hunting these spots for 4 years now and probably have shot out 5 coons total during that time. I have never treed closer than 300 yards from a bucket, been several nights that dog didnt strike. I feel that buckets are a tool to help get dogs started, to go and make a drop or two on a week night (for when you have to go to work early the next morning), and to guide a cast to. I would love to be one of those guides that put the dogs on coon and see how many they tree. Unfortunatly, the dogs that i draw out with are just as crappy as mine and we come back to the club with minus, circle and some plus but hey, we were out and hunting and having a great time while supporting my club, UKC and PKC....Jack!

All of the access to all my hunting places are Walk In Only except on my ranch. I choose to walk that too! I only have to corn feeders out on about 100 acres on one section and in that area there are around 10 coon I guess. All around me (on my neighbors) there is about the same. I tree just as many coon on my place as on theirs with no corn feeders. In my country if you dog has to go more than 300 yards to strike anywhere then your dog is running past coon. After deer season when the feeders are out of corn I tree just as many then as when they are running full speed. Personally, I can't see a difference in feeders or not here. We have a huge diversity of food, constAntly.... Guess the coon get tired of corn and move around to something else to eat.

Why start a thread about feeder buckets in a hunt when you've hunted 2 in 3 yrs?

Its one of the reasons I dont . Grand nite ch. used to mean something years ago bit now all that has changed . They are still some nice gnc dogs oit there and as get older i would like to more comp hunting but I notice I said I find no sport in bucket hunting grown dogs . Its fine for pups but why would someone want to play the world series on a little field the reason the numbers are down and we cant kids interested in our sport is many has turn it into about the handler running scores over bait among others . If we want our sport to rebound we need to something fast . Never said I wouldnt hunt more but oir sport has change so much that myself along with others want no part of it anymore . It used to be a Gentlemens sport where everyone had a chance now alot depends whether you draw the rite cast . Too many times the better hound doesnt win

AROUND HERE WHEN THERE'S NO CORN OR CHERRIES, ACORN OR SUCH, MOST TRACKS ARE STARTED ON GUT PILES!! LIKE I SAID, YOU HAVE TO KNOW THE HABITS OF WHATEVER GAME YOUR HUNTING. KEEPING COONS AROUND WITH FEEDERS JUST MAKES GOOD SENSE TO ME!!
