Just curious who owned all this huntable land? There's thousands of acres around my house but I don't have permission to hunt all of it.
I'm sure if the dogs had crossed a fence and you got your butts chewed you'ld be unhappy about that too.

I really don't understand this here. We have rules in place to minus a dog that's alone a lot. Unless your a big timer and at a world hunt. Even that's different now. Why not call time? I bet it'd been fine had all 3 been slick wouldn't it?? We'd have never heard about it.

See if you can find someone that I cheated.

I wasn't on this cast, but in this case the dog wasn't struck, there was nothing to listen for. Had the guide said to recast would you hold your dog on the leash listening for a nonstruck dog before recasting? If so, where in the rules does it tell you to do this and how long would you listen?

And why are you so sure they circled a slick tree? The vote was 3 to 1 for circle, the 1 that voted to minus his dog wasn't there so he had just as much to gain by voting minus as the other 3 had by voting circle.

I've seen this happen many times i don't, know the tree was slick but when its three to one your done most of the people i draw want to circle a twig you can't beat most of these guys into takeing minus they refuse to admit their dogs aren't what they braged up to be if you are honest you've got to beat man and dog

its a shame you had a guide that could only spend 20 minutes in a woods and score ONE measly tree if that's REALLY THE TRUTH of the story.

Threads like this are reasons why people get sick of going to hunts.

1/2 of the cast members don't know the rules, 1/2 want to bend or ignore the rules and both want to whine and complain when they don't get their way.

There is no min rule in UKC. There is in PKC

Should recast to the dog, struck or not, calling timeout was a load of crap and everyone on this post knows that, so what should be done about it?

I brought this and the voting topic up because it happens a lot in the nite hunts, yet there isn't a given way to handle it based on the ways certain rules are written.

Besides being honest, can it be fixed by rewriting the language of some rules?

If a majority cast vote doesnt seem fair to you i dont know what would. I doubt 3 other hunters were intentionally out to get you handling a dog that hadnt even gotten struck. If the cast was required to recast every time their was a dog missing in action you would have a mess, If you think they should stand around with their dogs on a leash listening you would create a situation where if the dog was heard and struck they would have to recast or if they listened and didnt hear the dog they would have to recast. See how rediculous that sounds? And how in the world are you going to recast to a dog not struck? it could be anywhere.

A dog doesn't have to be struck to recast. All that needs to be done is recast and open up a new set of strike points. Seems pretty simple to me.
