Instead of a book, I am doing videos to document what I have done with my dogs over the years. Paul, I have at least a couple of hundred more videos to post as I get time to post them. I started doing videos over 25 years ago and I have a camcorder in my pocket every time I go hunting these days. Frances Gail just bought me a new camcorder for my birthday.

The thing I like about my videos is that when I sell a pup or a dog I don't have to tell someone what their grandsire was like, I give them a DVD showing the sire and dam and usually grandsires and granddams treeing coon, running rabbits, or treeing squirrels.

Paul, a fellow in your postion needs a good camcorder. They are pretty inexpensive these days, a good one can be bought for around $150. I paid over $1000 for some of my camcorders in the past. Did you or anyone from UKC record the World Squirrel Hunt? I know Allen records a lot of stuff for UKC. I like my little Flip camcorder. It fits in my pocket, plugs into a USB port on my computer and automatically downloads the video to a file on the computer and then, recharges the battery. It is a lot better than the old VHS camcorders I used to lug around 25 years ago. I am converting those old VHS videos into digital these days. I do a 2 hour tape almost every day and I still have lots of them to do. I love watching the good dogs from days past treeing coon.

Dave,

I did record the UKC Squirrel Dog World Hunt a couple weeks ago. You can see the finished video here: http://www.ukcdogs.com/Web.nsf/WebPages/CurFeist/Home

I can imagine the hassle the old camcorders were to lug through the woods. We use the Flip camera's here and they are a whole lot easier to pack around and shoot good footage. Even with the phones today it makes it a lot easier. She's not an English dog but here is a little video I shot of my B&T female treeing.

http://s1300.photobucket.com/user/P...6e1561.mp4.html

This was taken in about the hottest part of July with my iPhone. It's not as long or detailed as some of your videos but it does let you see how she trees.

I've not taken too many videos while out hunting but I plan on taking more. I'm supposed to be getting a pup before long and I'm going to try to video a lot of it's progress. I think the videos are great for what you described, being able to see a dog's parents and grand parents, etc. I've been watching some videos of this pups mother and grandmother so it gives me an idea of what to expect in terms of mouth, tree style, etc.

At least this has been a good winter to stay at home and edit video!

Paul, it looks like you know what you are doing with your camcorder. That was a fine video of the UKC World Squirrel Hunt. I have known John Stuart for a long time and he always hunts a good Cur or Fiest.

I have lots and lots of English dogs on video tape and I plan on keeping this thread going for a good while.

I thought I would offer a change of pace. I used to offer 2 seperate strins of English, my Buddy bred English and I had a strain of English I called my Buckshot strain of English.
Here is a video made several years ago of a sire, Dual Grand Champion Buckshot II, and his daughter, Dual Grand Champion Dolly, treeing a coon. They were prine examples of my Buckshot strain of English.

http://youtu.be/f2B3BUAp6bA

Dolly was concieved when we bred Two back to his grand mother, Outlaw's Widowmaker. Both dogs were medium hunters, medium to hot nosed, real fast, slashing, drifting track dogs, and could usually be called treed on their locate. I loved hunting both dogs but Dolly was a real "sweet heart" of a coon dog, she was very easy to hunt. We used to hunt Two with pups and leave him treed when the pups split treed, sometimes up to an hour or so. He always held and had the meat when we got there.

I should have raised more pups out of both of them.

question

I was wondering if you could tell me why all my dogs have a heart shaped spot and a couple of black spots about the size of a silver dollar on one side or the other? They have Cabin Creek Rowdy Swamp Rooster Bluegrass Amos up pretty close and Junior Speck and Little Joe in the five and six generations they are all blue some dark some light. Thanks Steve

Dave Haugh

Mr. Haugh,
Letting you know, I looked at some of your videos.
I would like to let you know I followed Timber Star Buddys mother,
Tutts timber Rose many a night.
My friend Bob Tutt bought her from Kelly Stagner as a pup.
I had a litter mate to Rosie I called Osters Tree Talkin Brendi.
They never made a harder tree dog than Brendi, bar none.
Thanks for reading my post.
