Stating additional positions doesn't really explain original positions. Start at the beginning, please.

Mr. Snyder,
Before we engage in a conversation on the will of God, suffering, etc., lets first examine your basic worldview. I notice you have as part of your location the phrase "God's Country" and in your signature a quote by Ben Franklin ( a man who believed in prayer). Now why would you believe in God if you don't believe in having conversations with God (prayer), and why would you idolize a man whose view on prayer was in total opposition to your own?

LOL I dont idolize Ben , that quote just holds a lot of truth. I dont believe prayer works, was my only statement.praying changes nothing .you can pray for anything you want ,but what will be will.asking god does nothing. Talk to god all ya want but I sure dont expect him to talk back(unlike a few shall I say- well people I know that claims he talks to them) So why should I expect answers to prayers? You show me one full fledge case of god answering a prayer that couldnt not have been aswered any other why And I'll rethink my postion.

Mr. Snyder,

about 17 or 18 years ago I was involved in an accident where I was crushed between two one ton trucks. Broke my pelvis, fractured several vetabraes in the small of my back, messed my right hip up, twisted my tail bone, damaged my intestine... While having the surgeries to repair everything they called my family in and told them that they found cancer in my abdomen.. I was on life support, the prayers started and in a week they did more test and come back to my family and told them that there isn't no sign of what they had seen earlier... I came off lifesupport in a little over a week... was told that I would be in a wheelchair by now which I am not...

For me I know prayer did work and I thank GOD for it... not only am I not in a wheel chair but I am able to walk the hills of WV chasing after a dog, coach basketball, enjoy activities with my kids as if nothing had ever happened...

Then I have also lost the only sibling I had... He was 32 years old and died of a massive heart attack... now do I question GOD about this not now.. did I, yes... but I have been shown why him... now it wasn't revealed to me in some cloud with a voice but... GOD works in suttle ways... I have seen GODS work and sometimes it takes drastic measures to get someones attention... the taking of my little brother and best friend... opened my eyes along with a whole host of my brothers friends... I seen the passing of a 6 yr odl little girl my cousin who asked her mom and dad to go to church with her every sunday and they wouldn't until she passed of a cause that is still unknown... guess what my aunt and uncle are now some of the strongest members of their church... so sometimes GOD has to use drastic measures to wake people up... Instead of questioning WHY something happened for the bad look at what good come of it... The day of my brothers funeral I seen 3 to 4 things happen that I didn't think I would ever see happen again... but because certain people was at my brothers funeral reunited a family... Now is that why GOD took my baby brother?? I don't know but that family would have never been under the same roof if he hadn't passed... so yes I think that was one of the reasons that my brother was taken away.. I can't say I know how you feel because I haven't lost either of my parents but I have gained alot of insight to this topic by the passing of my brother.

There are reasons that all prayers arent answered and we may never know why... but my friend trust me GOD has a plan... for you, for me, for our nation,..

I will be praying for you My Friend.

Tim,glad you recovered. However did you really have cancer or did the docs jump the gun and make a mistake?

"but my friend trust me GOD has a plan"

LOL well his plan sucks and again seems like one sick sense of humor.
Ive set in church pretty regular for 2 yrs(In support of my youngest girl) Ive listen to the fruit cakes claimin god talks to them. Listen to all the prayer request and have yet to see one truely seem to be answered by "God" Have some good people there ,but also some I have no use for. Then there is the whole other subject of tithes.I cant see giving 10% of what little I make, cant pay bills as is.You see I dont forgive and forget.Someone screws me there is no forgiving or second chance,Im the first to admit Im judgemental, sarcastic and a pesimist(sp)

Yes I believe there is a god/creator(no freakin way an ape is my cousin)Yes I believe Jesus walked on this earth. I DO NOT believe there is a plan for my life or god listens to each and everyone of us,or talks to people. But hey if it makes you feel better and helps you deal with the crap of life go for it.Just dont expect everyone to buy into your eutopia.Life has kicked me in the %%%% for that.

Bear......

I have had so many prayers answered I cant begin to tell you how many. Saw my mom died three years ago from one of the slowest most agonizing deaths a human could go through. I still believe in God and healing. My mom received the ultimate healing. Because she believed in Jesus, she is spending eternity without pain, without tears, without sorrow, without regrets, eternal peace and joy for ever and ever.
I would trade with her any time. I am looking forward to heaven and cant wait to be there.
Earth aint my home. I am just passing through.

Its hard to understand that, but I know this, when I turned my life over to Jesus I have a peace that passes all understanding.

Good for you Ron. Now that we've beat the prayer issue to death (and sorry I see no proof in any of your answers) Let me throw this one out to you "thumpers" that are parents.

God is our father and loves us like his children right? But yet if we dont follow "the word" we are condemned to hell. Now which of you can tell me something one of your kids could do that you would condemn them to hell?

Let me see if I can wrap my mind around this. You believe in God, yet struggle with God's ability to, as Ben Franklin put it, "govern in the affairs of man"; or is it that you struggle with God's concern with man?

JESUS made a way so you wouldn't have to go to hell. Accept his sacrifice. His redemption. People go to hell because they dont want GOD, not because GOD does not want them. I dont know how long you have been on this message board but many on here may remember me from many years ago. I got started coonhunting in 1995, got started looking at this message board around 2002 or 2001 or some thing like that. GOD, convicted me of my sins and changed my heart and I removed the idols from my life and put him first and he changed my life. Changed my heart. Transformed me. I cried out to GOD with a humble heart and he showed up ! Here is a list of answered prayers and transformations from GOD.......

1. I love GOD and he is # 1.

2. I love my wife and she loves me and Im not addicted to porn anymore. By the precious blood of JESUS the bondage of sin is gone and the slavery of sin is gone and my shame is gone. As Nebuchadnezzer did, "i lifted up my eyes to heaven and my senses returned to me".

3. I lost 54 pounds. By GOD's grace and help Im not addicted to food anymore and its not an Idol in my life anymore.

4. I dont hate myself or hate other people anymore. Ask ANYONE who used to visit this message board years ago how i used to talk and what my overall attitude was from day to day. Ask them. Go ahead. I LOVE EVERYONE and I no longer sit up all night long on this message trying to stir up trouble and cause problems and argue and fuss and make myself look smart the way i did for years and years. My whole heart, mind, and attitude has been transformed from the inside out.

5. I have a full time job which I enjoy and I am now the trainer at work who trains the new hires. I'm not lazy anymore. I used to go from job to job and when I got layed off I wouldn't even look for work. I would sit on the couch and eat all day and night and not even think about finding a job for months and months. I care now and GOD has transformed my mind and heart.

GOD gets ALL the glory for every single change in my life. Everything. I got saved and accepted JESUS when I was 15 years old but I went through many years where I put GOD on the back burner and I slowly brought idols into my life and I drifted far far out into sin and bitterness and hate and depression. I came back to GOD and cried out for help and he rescued me !! Oh yeah, thats another thing, Im not on depression medicine anymore. JESUS LOVES YOU AND HE CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE TOO !!!!!!!!!!!

Mr. Snyder, you seem to be jumping on to other subjects before previous subjects are even given proper discussion. Therefore, I beg the question, "Are you really looking for answers, or are you just mad at God for things in your life that didn't work out like you wanted?"

proper disscussion? all I see is talk in circles no true answers.Typical "thumper"responses . YOu show me a true blue miricale from god, something that could not have been answered any other way. Then I'll respond to you.YOu tryin to catch me/twist my opinion around does not impress me.

Better hurry off to church, have a good day.

That's the whole point bear, a miracle is supernatural(attributed to a force beyond scientific explanation) it can't be explained or proven no matter how many sermons you sit in on. We're the silly one? YOU believe in someone who was able to CREATE life and sustain it but deny that deitys omnipotence? I hate to hear of your tough breaks but everyone has em. Everyone will suffer and be broken no matter how great their belief. That's a fact

Mr. Snyder, could you show me what you mean by "talking in circles"? I am simply trying to better understand your position. You can rest assured I am not trying to catch you or twist your opinion, however, when, in the course of discussion, your comments are not congruent, I will point that out; not in an attempt to demean you in any way, only to clarify my understanding of your position. You asked for an example of a miracle. My answer is-You. You were created in the image of God.
You are right, I need "hurry off to church", hope you do the same. God bless!
