and the very sad truth is that somewhere along the line people with Jims idea of it being a compitition instead of an evaluation took hold and the above is the result.

in my tenure of night hunts I watched TONS of dogs with huge titles who couldnt for the life of them pass a .22 test. A bunch of them even refused to leave your feet if cast alone. I once scratched a big name walker female, because she was the only dog left in the cast and had 34 minutes left to hunt. she never left our feet and was scratched for refusing to hunt.....with a score of 1250+.

her owner and handler BEGGED to just let the time run out on the leash but i was having none of that( i was a non hunting judge). Sad part was while cast with other dogs she was a go yonder jesse who was split treed alot of the time....

theres a ton more i could tell ya about, but the point is when you decide its about a compitition instead of an evaluation......its real easy to let the tech and counterfits take over in the name of a WIN.

if its an evaluation, there is no bonus for cheaters or counterfits to show up....no reason to argue about what tech lends what advantage....

Yeah, yeah and yeah.........
If I had a dollar for every post on this forum about a titled dog that needs shot, I'd buy UKC and turn it over to you so you could make all ok. In the mean time, I'll just try to follow the rules they give us. As for the Alpha issue, I got one and on those semi-rare occasions when my dog hunts UKC, I'll just borrow my buddy's Astro and leave the shock collar home.

I must have missed the answer somewhere to this question.

But not allowing something good because someone may cheat seems to defeat the purpose since the cheater will likely find a way to cheat anyway. While the only one being punished is the guy that wouldn't cheat either way. [/B]
I agree 100%
