I attend every year to visit. This year one dog that really stood out was in the southern west side of one barn and it was maybe mixed/plot/cur ...blue/black in color and very old. I would say that dog is no longer alive. I could see every bone in it's body and I would have been ashamed to have that dog tied out for the public to see. Last year it was very hot and I found several 3-5 month old pups tied to the center fence of the back field with no shade and the water bowls were empty. I purchased 3 big cups of ice and took them. For the most part I thought it all looked good for this type of an event. Have you ever been to Kenton Nationals when it existed or other trade days? Dogs were always left there too. One of the postings said that dogs were left at area farms if they did not make it back from hunting before the hunters left. Who is gonna leave their dog that they thought enough of to bring to A.O. ? I have heard that folks leave events like this and dump the dogs out in the country because they don't want to take them home and feed them. They gather dogs for free from their areas and bring them here to sell. If they don't sell them they are not out any expenses by dumping them. If you attend enough of these events then you will see and hear alot. I think A.O. runs like a well oiled machine considering the size of the event and number of folks that attend. Maybe put a limit on the number of dogs that one person can have on the grounds. Charge a small fee per dog or litter that is to be sold and make a small donation with these funds to an area shelter. The UKC staff and the host clubs should be commended on a job well done. It is easy to set here and think of ways to operate (that sound better) but to make them happen is another thing. J.M.O.

We camped there and I just want to say that there were a couple young kids pulling a wagon around with water asking people if they needed water for their dogs. We had water but I thought it was VERY NICE of these kids for doing that. They will no doubt grow up to be good adults!

I arrived at the fair grounds on Thursday and didn't leave till Sunday and the only dog i seen running loose was on Friday and there was a couple of fellow trying to catch it. And as far as poor looking dogs i proably didn't see over maybe a half a dozen that looked like they needed some extra feed,and i made maney trip around the grounds.

I seen some wormy puppies and a blue tick that had his mouth duct taped shut. Which I know for a fact Ukc new about. And a dead coon in the trash can. Other than that it was on the up and up.

I camped there the whole weekend and was happy that there wasen't dogs tied to everything to be sold or traded for. I made many laps and for the number of people and dogs was very pleased with the event. I did see the coon in the trash can there's always got to be on wise guy (who prob. spot lighted it). As for the bluetick with the duck tape that was taken care of by bystanders. I did see the local animal patrol drive through at least once a day. And UKC reps checking many times. I thought it was a great event this yr.

This was my third year in a role working grounds security for UKC at AO. Honestly, I was dreading working AO this year because of last year. Last year was a nightmare due to the heat. The only thing I did last yr was pack water. I was the only one working this yr other then when Todd had time to drive around. No one drove around those grounds as much as me and that's the truth. Even when there were 2 of us we (I), can't be everywhere at once. I didn't see any long chains of starved dogs, and didn't have to pack to much water. Only had to ask 1 gentlemen to give his dog some food and water. Overall I thought this yr was pretty good. I don't work the grounds at night so I don't know what happens. I only work until Saturday evening so I don't know about dogs being left behind. If that is true something definitely needs to be done. I'm not a thief but if I would of seen a dogs mouth taped shut, it wouldn't belong to that owner anymore. That's pure stupidity.

Well Ukc should have barred the owner of the bluetick on the spot. And he should have been arrested.
