Hump

went back and read my post I cant see where I insulted you but sorry anyways. I"m not the sharpest knife in the drawer but understand ingridients and rations as I have took a few (not many) classes in animal science and breeding & reproduction at osu. Justin, the feeding guideline is for a normal dogs activity and must be adjusted as to the demands of the dogs eating it. says so right there on the bag.....same as it does on pro-plan. for what its worth I dont think I could feed ol' shep 30%-20% in the summer when its 100 deg. at night.

hmmm i think lynn wilson gave the best proof for what she fed. we switched to hi pro after the diamond scare because it was all we could get. but the blues just don't seem to like it.
pro plan is nice but a bit pricey. but then i didn't realize that to own a dog you were supposed to be a millionaire.
personally i'm going to try the hi standard. the ingrediants seem good and the price is right.

They take them at the Sam's here in Beckley,WV. It says on the rebate checks that it is not a coupon. All the cashier has to do is run it through the register like it is a normal $7.00 check. If i'm not mistaken all Purina dealers are required to accept the rebate CHECKS. I have not had any problems using them at any of the Purina dealers around here.

When you send in your weight circles to Purina, send them certified or someway that requires a signature. If they get lost for what ever reason you are out of luck. It is worth the extra postage to insure that they will get them.

If you boys wanna feed some really quality super digestable cost effective feed, here they are.

if you want 26/16, go to Costco and buy their Kirkland chicken and rice. I would be willing to bet it is as good a pro-plan. The first two ingredients are fresh chicken, and chicken meal with the third being rice. There is no corn in this feed. Last time I purchased it, it was 16.65 for 40 pounds.

If you are hunting SUPER hard, find yourself some Buckeye 30/20 SUPERBITS. No corn in this either and those dogs will look great on a very small amount if feed. The feed is very dense and is the smallest dog feed I have ever seen. This is a little more pricey at about 18-20 for 40 pounds.

They aren't coupons, they are checks,,they can actually be deposited in your checking account

I feed two hounds. (now). 3 children and one wife and myself my feed and food bill gets expensive over a years time. Im gonna try the hi pro until these two bags are gone and see how it turns out. heck i could feed more diamond until these two dogs are gone.

Justin you said the food is almost a dollar a pound. I sure do wish steaks were that cheap.LOL

I have to admit with these two bags of Hi pro, Lynn Wilson gave me the most confidence with it. Patches I agree with you on that one.. Gary Woods

I was feeding Diamond (and still may after awile and after reading that the Diamond here didn't come from the infected plant) I really like Black Gold but around here it is just that only dealers are about 100 miles away sure I could buy in bulk and make a trip every month or so whan I am that way but that is just not practial.

Haven't feed any Purina Pro Plan may have to try it awile.
I would not put Ol-Roy in a coonfeeder it is worthless and do you all remember about the dogs that died from it a couple years ago the red dye in it shut down dogs kidney's it all blew over just like this Diamond will. The Ol -Roy stool is about the worst I have ever been around and stool the is plenty of.Just my 2 cents

I have fed Purina Hi-Pro longer than I can remember, and have used auto feeders since the early 90's. Have tried other feeds but always came back to Purina. I hunt 4 to 6 nights a week and have noticed on the nights we hunt harder or the weather is colder the first thing my hounds do when I put them in the kennel is go get a few bites of feed. My hunting partner feeds Diamond and is happy with it, Each to his own.
The only time I see a stool in my kennel is on the day after I didn't hunt the night before or if I'm just starting a dog on the feeder. But the stools on Hi-Pro are always firm and not to large. My dogs always get good evals from the vet and have no problem hunting 2 hours or 10.
Like I told my hunting partner, if you can feed Purina ,get good results from your hound and get money back in the process, then why not?

I haven't compared labels, but when Petsmart has Pro Plan on sale,it's the same price as Purina One.
I don't think they offer One or Pro Plan in 50 lb bags, only 20 and 37.5 (or 41.25 bonus bags) lb bags.

The last bags of Pro Plan i bought were on sale for $23.99 for a 37.5 lb bag.

It would take 17 bags to get the points for the rebate checks.

If it wasn't so expensive,I'd put HiPro in my feeder buckets. That's all it's good for.Purina One and ProPlan and good feeds. My dogs do best on Black Gold 23/16.

I swear by Purina, I have fed Black Gold and Diamond but prefer Purina. By joining Purina Pro Club you can bank your points and get rebate checks or merchandise. I have always had excellent results with Purina.
