We saw this post and decided to give a board member a call and find out what was going on.
She has explained it to me like this...
AKC called them and said they'd like to come back, and are going to give St. Jude donation of 10,000.00 a year for 3 years.
This board called UKC and UKC said they could not match that type of donation...so, they decided they couldn't turn down the donation for the hospital..which made sense to me also. This is after all, a hunt for the kids.
You can register your hounds to hunt and show on the bench at the hunt, and just for the 3 days if this is what you want to do. She said she thinks it's free to do this, as it is free to register them with AKC now till Dec. 31st.
We have always tried to donate and help with this hunt, and we will again this time around.
We may not agree with AKC on everything..we breed a couple litters a year and we don't want to be under investigation for any of it, but we also know that this is the big St. Jude hunt of the year, every year, so we will be there to support our local group helping St. Jude.
AKC was the first registry to have this hunt, 2 others before UKC held it. UKC has only held it the last 8 years. I hope others will reconsider and come join us.

I don't believe it will matter who holds the event, it's purpose in the first place was for charity. If U.K.C. could not match or donate a tab more then, I feel it's just as good to allow A.K.C. to hold the "charity" for the children and families they have helped.
"Great Job" Steve Fielder and A.K.C.!!!
