I'm pretty sure i have enough common sense to determine a dog that is treeing from not treeing. Anybody that has ever had me as a judge will tell you that I will judge mine as hard or harder than yours. I'm certainly not worried about getting what comes around because If MINE is down with its nose on ground and attempting to trail he gets minused. i guess to avoid getting minused in the future I should issue this statement.. Mr. Judge my dog may come back to meet you, he may circle tree three times and may go get a drink a water, he may be farther back than that if there is more than one dog on the tree, he may oh what the hell just pluss'em all up that way everybody's happy! LOL

You might have a point. But I bet it has been used much more regularly to screw somebody when it was all right there in obvious sight. I think easing in as a handler or even a judge with the cell phone video running would have put a stop to alot of that crap a long time ago.

So Dean from what I gather from reading your replies you are pretty much stating to heck with what the rules say you are going to judge it your way and your way only based off how you think a dog should tree. You want to come to my place for a hunt sometime I will be more then glad to show you a treeing machine that greets me off every tree with company and even throws her head down from time to time. Its guys that refuse to follow rules like this one that have zero business judgeing a cast.

I don't have any problem with a dog meeting handler off tree at all, I just don't consider one wandering over here over there with its nose on the ground treeing. MOST people tell you there dog meets you off the tree to cover the loose tree dog to avoid minus.

To me meeting me off the tree means coming out to handler and turning and going back to tree.

The article went on alot further then just letting a dog meet a handler. It said a dog can hold its head however it wants, also said that it doesnt need to be a belly up tree dog barking 130 barks a minute.

I've saw one dog minused in my life for meeting its handler. It run back to a different tree is why it got minused lol. I've seen a few minused for milling here and there around the tree though. Which they should be!!!!

I was once in a cast where the dogs were treed in some thick brush, after crawling in to the tree one treed dog was not there, and was minused.

It showed up shortly, in all probability it was only milling a few feet from the tree....But what are you to do?

Train the milling out of em' and it wont be a factor.

Jim pretty much said it right. Your either willing to go by the way the rule is clearly written or you do it your own way.

This is funny stuff. It happens once a year just like Christmas, highly anticipated and now in full swing, competition season. And just like grandpa reading "Twas The Night Before Christmas", we gather round the computer screen so Trevor can tell us once again how his dog was minused for meeting him off the tree (they're best pals you know), which in turn becomes a 5 page thread revealing some of the thickest craniums to ever unsnap a hound.

Merry Crymas to all, and to all a good fight!

Maybe in your area its not a common occurrence but I have seen it more times then I care to remember and the majority of the time if a dog isnt right on the tree it gets minused and its not right, your dog or mine. You may get a laugh or 2 out of it but wait til someone does it to you. Oh thats right just ask for a cast vote but have a jolly time getting both other handlers to vote with you. Few hunters will not take advantage of minusing someone.

The only thing that separates competition hunting from a child's game is the mentality of those playing the game. If my dog is not hooked when the cast gets there ill take my medicine like a man.

You can take it then but you don't have to. The rules don't say HOOKED. That rule has been around far far longer than Voting. Does it require a vote or a question on the card?

I think it is a fault if I get to a tree and there is a chewed off twig but I wouldn't want him minussed for it.

It is about the rules. It Is about the rule of law. It is about the Constitution written simply enough that a forth grade education can read and understand them. You may not like them, you may "Feel" you have a better all Seeing , all knowing way. But Tough Sheet to you. Change the rules through the correct process and UKC will publish the revisions. For Example :

Yes ,He Really was a Marshal and/or a judge . He was not a doogooder with a little authority and an agenda to accomplish of making all dogs tree visegrips . JMO

So this is the way I interpret that rule. And aw, by yimmidy it is going to tick a bunch of you off . AND THIS IS WHY. It is because YOU, NONE other than yourselves have made up a rule completely unto your ownselves . But little does that matter now because you have been caught plain and simple trying to minus and eliminate the Comp so you could go off and play with yourselfs , but you have now been caught dead to rights.

And this is the part Of my interpretation that is going to drive you crazy but I do not care because you BUTT HEads pulled it on me "AFTER " we were told to handle our daawgs . GET IT ?? THe wise asssed sob had ruled all dogs were treeing satisfactorily and mine wheeled and I missed her collar and she got "her head down and got back on track" in two seconds before she got back belly up on the wood. So I think you farting around yow, yowing about a dog milling, , you are just talking to hear yourself talk. SO I say you might have brought a REVOLUTION down on your neck for taking advantage and doing something as stupid as that down on your necks . A person can only stand so much of a stupid interpretation of a rule when that interpretation is clearly used to eliminate the Comp.

And, If you don't care for what I have said already, You certainly will hate what I am fixing to say, because following the RULES , a dog has two minutes to bark treed .. LOL THIS IS WHERE it gets funny Funny Fuuny , DO you hear me? So the five runs and ya'll Big Boys head In. Dog not there but got TWo minutes to bark treed as per the rules , you must stand back , cannot handle your mighty mouse tree hugger for two minutes while you fret if his head is somehow going to get lower than it was when we first cast a gaze on them. LOL LOL, I bet that will be a butt puckering two minuites . Hey , If a dog is a PERFECT tree hugger , why can't he be expected to never shift his weight for a measaly two minutes. Minus that dog of yours after a minute and 45 that comes to you asking why haven't you handled me yet Lover? What the H are you doing? standing back way over here? LOL With you thumb up your butt hoping that dog that treed my coon will not open for 15 more seconds? .
