I'm partial to actually looking at coon. I'll stick with these old ticked up hounds! There are some real good walkers out there not knocking them at all English just more accurate imo

I was raised around english dogs and have seen alot of good ones. Even own 2 right now and just sold one that was real good when I hunted him hard.

I also own my Mouse female and had a grand nite ch female named Diamond that I single registerd. Also ownded a Nite Ch named Spike, who was a grandson to hilbilly mac.

I will say that Mouse, Diamond, and Spike RARELY gave a bad tree. Pleasure hunting or Competition hunting. When they treed you expected to see a coon everytime. They were also all very independent, almost to a fault.

The 3 english dogs I have hunted in the last 4 years all went through horrible slick treeing spells, my 3 walkers did not.

Out of 130 trees this coon season my Mouse female made 3 slick trees.



Like was said above. If you don't punish them for slicking they will continue to do it. I busted my english dogs butts everytime and either they were going to stop it or go down the road. Luckaly I broke all 3 of them.

Also since coon season ended in January, Mouse has treed around 40 coon and has yet to give a bad tree and I haven't knocked her any coon out since season. People that say walkers slick to much need dto get with someone that has a good one.

Some of them arer very very tree happy, I will agree with that 100% but again, the training has to be done early on and it has to be consistent.

your statement is so out of line its stupid, all my friends have english and i see slicks with them a lot. every breed slicks and if you have a coon dog it will slick or miss . you show me a dog that wont miss ever we could go hunting and do some wagering ,cause i know there is no such thing as a 100 percent accurate dog

I'm not gonna lie, I wouldn't waste one morsel of food on a walker dog (except for the few times my buddies leave theirs here over night). I've hunted with nearly every breed, but won't ever own anything that ain't English when it comes to my coondogs. Just my opinon though

There is good, bad and great in Walker and English. I breed for coondogs so I could care less what people think. I'll I did was bring that walker blood back to it's roots by bringing it back on my gyp, after all that was one of the rules to allow the Treeing Walker to separate from the English breed in the late 1940's was to allow them to be single registered when crossed back on English in future crosses if owners desired to. Pretty interesting history.
