When garmin came out with the 20's i wanted to wait and hear all the bad about them and when they came out with the 30's they improved but still not to a point if your dog hunts deep quite a bit. Now they came out with the 40's but i heard there no good in water where a dog swims, well i like to hunt knee to waist deep water so im hesitant on that. I know a garmin will save me time but still am not sold on the products out there yet

I guess now we know which catagory your in.....

Garmin

Most people will save enough in gas money in one year to pay for the Garmin alone

Think about it a cell phone works with a very small antenia. The GPS has one about 13 in. long. It will loose signal but not often and all you have to do is move a little to a higher place.
Now when you add the birds eye view to the gps it has got even better. Seeing the roads, water and tree lines are great.

I will take my chances on an occasional signal loss over the old beep, beep, is it in front of me or behind me? any day. I have my old Tracker loaned out to a young boy that is keeping my old dog and hunting it. He called me a short time after he got him and said that he had lost the dog the night before and I went with him to find it. I forgot how much driving around trying to get triangulation on the dog to narrow down the area he was in. I had my GPS along and looking at it, trying to figure out in lining up the signal trying to pin point. Brought back flash backs that I thought were long gone, lol I kept thinking to myself, if he only had a Garmin.

Just a followup i did get a garmin 320 with 2 40 collars. Are they nice yes, do i trust it absolutely not. I got them at autumn oaks and they work alright but some of the things i found out in my area that i am in the reception seems week majority of the time. some nights they work great but most seem to loose connection and wont pick up for a very long time. I hunt in flooded swamps and last night i really noticed that my dog went through the ice collar got wet and froze. I didnt pick her up for 20 minutes although i could see her. I put it in my truck and thawed it out and seemed to work after that but i can see that being a problem for some people. They really are nice though to see where your dog exactly is and what there doing-saves time but when you cant pick them up like im having im kinda wishing i stayed with the beep beep system just for a backup. one of the collars seem to be stronger than the other, got them both at the same time from the same guy with after market antennas. Im not completely sold on the 320 and 40 collar setup although it is a pleasure to have with you

Well, back to the original question, it looks like 80% of Garmin users trust their Garmin enough that they never run any other collar along with it. 80%!!! That's alot of trust.
