My last coment......

If a dog can THINK then it is a proven fact that thinkingt leads to reasoning. POINT I think I will cross the road BUT the reason i don't is because there is a BIG truck comming. Now for the rob and steal been dealing with those kind for 33 years I garontee you they can think they just don't care. now that is different in my opinion.
ENJOYED IT LATER H L Meyer

POINT, I think that I will tree that possum. REASONING, Hmm, if I do I will get a whooping. I think that I will tree him anyway but just sneak off right before my idiot owner gets here! He will never know, he he he. (MY dog has not figured out yet that my Garmin will show me which tree he was on.)

A dog has to be able to reason.. When we use a E collar for running trash they will asociaite the shock with the smell of off game.

Now then....Do you think that a dog can "talk" to you? My wife swears that her Treeing Feist can. If you would see her talk to the dog and the dog "talk" or express itself back to her you would believe it. Sometimes I don't know if she has the dog trained or the dog has her trained. I have heard quite a few excellant handlers that say their dog "tells" them exactly what he/she is doing. Seeing them in action, will make a believer out of you.

YES dogs can think, and YES they can talk. You just have to be able to understand what they are saying. Complex reasoning is what supposedly sepperates us from the rest of the animal kingdom.
I cant believe out of all these "houndsmen" on here so few believe that a dog can think and "talk" to you. What do you suppose all those different barks they make are for? If dogs cant talk and communicate tell me this, how is it you take 4 dogs that have never seen each other before in a cast and every dog there knows exactly what the rest are doing? YOU just have to be able to understand their language!
Dogs are like people, some of them are smart and some are as stupid as a box of rocks! Seems I get stuck with more of the stupid ones! LOL

I gotta agree with the guy who said if ya got an escape artist ya know they are capable of figuring problems out. One of mine I had to put a roof on his kennel made of wood to keep him in, never did figure out how he could get out, but he almost beat me to the house the last time he escaped. The other I've upgraded his four or five times thinking this time ya won't get out........... he was out yesterday and sooo happy to see me when I went out to feed them. I like a dog that can learn from his mistakes. When they get a little older and lose a step they can still catch the tough ones by cunning and guile. As for communicating with a dog, Montague Stevens said when ya learn to communicate with a dog on a level where he understands dog training gets easy. He was right.

My Thoughts

Of course a dog can think. They don't process things like we do. They have survival on there mind. I do believe things become repititious to them. I don't think they can make any long term decisions. They process what is going on at the moment. Yes there are dumb dogs and smart dogs. Who knows what all goes on in there head. But they have to be able to think.
