stepped on a 5 footer back in may while hunting. i knew better than to walk in those ferns, but the route to the truck was so much shorter that way. Got struck on the shine, but those rattler brand chaps did their job. I did mine and dispatched the cranebrake into the here after, after some pants shaking and the OH s@#$ stopped ringing echos down the branch.

Never ask a man what kind of dog he has. If he has a hound he'll tell you, if he does not, you don't want to shame him by asking.

That first one is camoed up ain't it? Not enough to save him from a head mashing though. The second one was from today from a buddy of mine. The rattler was from Monday from another friend. I've only killed 4 this yr. Might have them thinned out some. Killed 14 last yr and 17 the yr before. That's ridiculous. Lots of the devils in these hills. Im glad I waited to post these after huntin. Id have been a nervous wreck if Id have had snakes on the brain before I cut loose lol.

I am not sceredy cat of snakes or nothin. But don't you hate it to kick a small vine and out the corner of your eye you see it darting out around your foot? I ain't scered. It just puts my nerves on high alert the rest of the night is all. Probly not a good time for a gamewarden to step out from behind a tree and say"Gotcha'.

Did i ever tell ya'll about dissun? It was back about 9-15-01. I was coming back from coonhunting and I got pulled because one side of the dogbox door came open but the dogs on that side were staying in. I had a Sunburst beltlight with suspenders and a spotlight with coiled wire and knobs and switches and them stitched in batteries what could be took for dynamite. So I unplugged the head light and stepped out to see what was the matter. The cop saw me in that get up and went for his gun but his eyes rolled back and he fainted back by the tailgate. I got on his radio and got 911 to him pronto. I'm glad they quit with them Sunburst lights they used to build to make you look like a suicide bomber. Heck, I don't even look Aborigineese too much.

I sure am glad to see all these dead snakes. Gives me that warm and fuzzy when I step in the woods knowing that there is some population control going on.

I'm Thanking the Good Lord above that I hunt in the Southern Indiana bottom ground where there are no rattlesnakes! Never saw a live one other than in a cage. We do have a few copperheads in the hills around but not in the bottoms where we drop.
I don't know how you guys stand it. I'd be looking around all the time, not getting anything else done!
