She always does the little kids show thingy that a lot of the clubs have. I do think last year art Kids World she showed in the real thing all by herself with a Redbone female we have that the boys hunt a lot..Bless her heart, the little dog only had half an ear on one side from having it torn off in a coon fight. But she handles good for Aimee and that's what counts right now.

She has also shown in an all-breed show all by herself last month in Franklin, TN. She did a real nice job!

She stacks the dogs on the ground all the time and says she practicing for showing..Here a pic of her and Tracker a couple months back..She did it "all by herself"..not bad!

And here's one of her getting Grace to free stack using her honey bun!! LOL!! I think any of them will for a bite of honey bun!!

Aimee and this little boy(Preston) won the Male and Female BEST SPORTSMANSHIP AWARD at the 2010 ILL State Youth event last year.

OK, well, enough of that!! I can go on for days with pics of her and these dogs...Anyways, for us it's all about family, friends, fellowship and having lots of fun..Not always, who's got the best dog...Lord knows we have gotten our hind ends spanked many times and had the BEST time ever doing this!!

Sorry..I can't get the link to work on the photo of Tracker..Never had that to happen before

Just got home from Cole Camp---WOW--!!-- Very nice dogs,and good turnout, in the bench show. Water race was awsome , had several nailbiter heats with only inches between first and last place!!Everybody enjoys races like that even if You don't win. I know that only too well ! LOL Saw lots of old Friends and made some new ones !! ( THATS WHAT ITS ALL ABOUT ) I honestly believe everybody had a good time. If You were there or anywhere else for that matter tell Us about it .Water Raceing is rapidly gaining in popularity I think. Don't You ?

We sooooo wanted to make both of those, but had other obligations in Mississippi this weekend.

Our son did load up a couple and went to Kinder Saturday night though. That was his first to ever go to an event alone..lol...That was such a big help...He said he had a great time.

Nice turnout for the Troy IA water race on Saturday. Several fast dogs and really close races!
This is the heat our Rosie dog was in (she's the blue dog with the red hood). She didn't try to get out of the pond this time, so we're definitely making progress!

Hi Calblu ,I enjoyed the video ,love those close ones. Thanks for showing it. I wanted to come up there,I also wanted to go to Kinder Mo. I guess I was so torn between the two I didn't go either place. LOL The next day ( Sun. ) I went to Cole Camp Mo.( My local club ) I talked to people who had been at Kinder the day before. They said it was a good turnout . They were from Ark. I also talked to people who had been to Troy Ia. the day before. They bragged on Your Blueticks !! I told them I hope to meet You soon.

People are traveling great distances to get to these water races I think that means We need to have them in more places,don't You?

We have 2 clubs that "used" to have them years ago..Both clubs 1 1/2 hours either direction from me...The pits are still there, but no one is interested in the clean up and maintenance of the ponds to get them started again.

At these same clubs, we used to enter up to 4 dogs in every club bench show. Now we are on the road chasing water races and field trials and can't fit in the local club events...
I would love to give those clubs all that gas money I am spending towards entries, instead of it going in my gas tank to get to out of state events!!

I hardly ever show anymore, because that money is going in the tank. So for us it's all about the wr and the money it takes to get to them.
0 to 35 points at a time, it doesn't matter because it's just what we like to do..We have been to MO, KY, IL, IN, OH, SC, AL, AR, OK and TN. We've had to limited our travels this year due to travel expenses(fuel). But who knows where we might show up!!

For anyone who thinks there aren't people serious about water races and field trials....think again! Pretty sure Troy is our closest water race and it's 3 hrs away. As Tiny says, 2 minutes of fun for the dogs at about $100/minute! LOL

I wish I would have video'd the final at Troy. There was an english and a redbone that were both really fast and it was close! I know it was the first water race for the english. Not sure about the red dog.

I wish more clubs could/would do both field trials and water races. People have been really friendly at all but one that I've been to.
Looks like if we stay out here in the midwest for very long, we'll have to move to WI!

I started wr 3 years ago in Missouri and this year is no comparison than the first year we are having 3 to 4 times the amount of dogs and the compition is the best I have seen, thanks mainly to the missouri federation.That' why if there was a world campionship We as wr & ft er we will be there .Glen Pruett

WR a spectator gets to see with his own eyes what happens. There is no wondering for a spectator what "rules infractions " might have caused a win in the dark nighttime.

Hi , Thanks for showing an interest in water raceing . If you mean at what age does UKC allow You to start water raceing a pup ,they have no age limit . My advice would be to wait till they are around a year old , but I have seen it done much sooner.If You mean how soon can You start training a pup ,thats a different story. The very best way ( I think ) is take a pup around 12 WEEKS old to the creek or if You have a pool thats even better and let it swim back and forth between two people who are only about 12 ft. apart. Don't over do it , don't let pup get scared , don't feed pup for several hours before doing this.Once You get the pup to where He actually is enjoying this ( may be first day , may take several days ) an occasional fun time in the water is all thats needed . At the proper time expose Him to cage coons etc. which is all part of His training to tree coons. Remember He already knows how to swim, so now that Your working Him on coons the water raceing part should just come naturely.

Thanks Stonehill. We were at Troy and really enjoyed the races, there is A youth event in Milsdtat Il at the end of the month my kids were wanting to try.
Our female is nearly 8 months and swims out in the pond daily, she fetches about anything. I have showed her 1 cage coon and she was pretty fired up. What is the best way to teach them to jump in, she kind of wades out and doesn't like to get her ears wet.

Cal blu I believe the Redbone at Troy belonged to Glen Pruett (Ag-Man) above. It was very fast out of the gate!

a local ch club has a wr facility. i've never put my dog in one. can i just pay my entrance fee and put her in the box? if so, is there a good chance she will go with the pack?
calblu, that water race seems to be very long. i got tired just watching it. is there a standard race length? is the national event the same length?

Hi BBQ Guy, it sounds to Me like You have a very good W.R. prospect. She loves swimming and hates coons. Thats 90% of it. Remember She is very young, so before You go any further just yet tell Me this. Is She a VERY bold ,fears nothing type dog ? When I say fears nothing, that includes crowds of people,maybe even a loudspeaker,lots of barking excited dogs,and lots of cars somebody may even blow their horn.If You don't think She can handle all this I would let Her mature some before I expose Her to it.If You think She's ready here is My advice.Haul Her around often enough that She loves going places.If its allowed where You live the best place to take Her is to kids softball / baseball games. Lots of scarey noise,people,and smells. They have to be able to handle this kind of stuff for any type of competetion. If You plan to show Her too work Her on the bench there at the ball game ! Do this over by Your truck of course. I know the Boys at Milstadt they are a very good bunch of Guys. They used to get togather, I believe once a week,to practice their dogs in the swim pit.I don't know how far away from there You live, but if its not too far You might want to join in on that, if they still do it. If You get to practice Her try to start out with a dog that You absolutely know will go on across but not especially fast. This will build up Her confidence.Try putting cotten balls in her ears if the water in Her ears are bothering Her.As far as jumping in I think that will come with age and experience . You really can't teach it.

Hi Croatan Kid ! I'm glad to see Your interested in water raceing. Everyone of Us at one time were just like You are now,interested but unsure of what to do. Acording to UKC rules the minimum length of a water race pond or pit is 150 feet there is no maximum length. All UKC water races are run under same rules. Pay Your entry fee put'er in the box and see what happens ? Well it's almost that easy, in fact a lot of water races have been won that way! When the heats are called You will need to be sure to get Your dog in the right heat. You may be given a colored collar to put on Your dog and some clubs have their starting box marked with theese colors so You know which place to put Your dog. When the dogs are released, keep Your mouth shut !!! Do not encourage your dog in any way !! At the home tree do NOT go in and get Your dog until the judge says You can!!! If You won line or tree be ready to come back for the finals. If You did not win line or tree get Your dog back out of the way.
Nobody could possibly know if Your dog will swim or not !! If You have a young dog then read everything I just told BBQ Guy. If You have an older dog We might be able to make a educated guess.Is Your dog very agressive on caged coons ? Some very good hounds will not bark at a coon in a cage . When You hunt the dog does it swim across creeks, or does it run up and down the bank barking ? If You have a dog that is agressive on caged coons and not afarid to swim You have a very good chance it will work out in the water race.
