LOOKING FOR COON

Im gonna look the tree hard even if my dog isnt there.Ive been on cast that people would turn there heads, and i found there coon when they couldnt find it ,i showed it to thim. But when its my turn nobody helps,i understand everyone wants a win we all do.But what good is a win your dog dont deserve.I dont think i could sleep at night knowing i made my dog a champion by cheating someone else.I feel like if a dog gets a title that way, this is what it creates,by cheating in the hunts to put a win on a dog the people are breeding to what ?when the dog is finished there breeding to the dog that should have been third and not the dog that really was first.Sometimes the dog that should have been first ends up last because of dishonest people. When thim types of dog wins people breed to thim thinking, there getting the best when there really getting the worst. And it hurts the breed when you breed to junk that the people do the winning not the hound. Its best to be honest stick strictly to the rules and you want have no problems. Its a competition hunt but it also can be pleasure hunt if done the right way.Just my opinion.

Brogy, and Jim, I would enjoy drawing out with you two fellas every nite hunt, and I believe that everyone that says they always look no matter what need to look up the definition of honesty. Brogy stated that he will look just as hard as anyone whether it benefits him or not and he only asks that all the other cast members act the same, doesn't get any more honest than that and I'm the same way, I will drain the power in my battery for ya, but you better do the same for me! Usually at every nite hunt there is one guy that you can hear over everyone else, braggin on his dog, braggin about his last hunt, braggin about his last score, etc. etc. When you cast the dogs this guy is just as honest as the next guy until that dog starts taking some minus and then he becomes silent and he is the one who stands back and enjoys a cigarette, keeps his light in one spot for 10 minutes, or withdraws before minusing out. You hunt a better dog than me, good for you! Will I look for your coon? ABSOLUTELY! Im hunting a better dog the next night than you are, good for me! Will you look for my coon? You better! Brogy was honest and he simply ask that everyone else act the same way and I agree and if that makes us cheaters then I guess we are the most low down cheaters in the country. BUT WE'RE HONEST!!!

Brain,

Thank You. That is exactly what I said, along with a couple others. I think most of those who say they'd do otherwise are either lying or haven't entered many nite hunts.

YEP SAME HERE, I WAS ON A 1 HOUR HUNT LAST YEAR AND ANOTHER MANS FEMALE WAS AS WOOD MONSTER AS THEY COME. SHE MADE ABOUT 4 OR FIVE SLICKS IN SHORT ORDER AND HE GOT MAD AS HELL BECAUSE EVERYONE WAS JUST MAKING A HALF HEARTED ATTEMPT TO FIND SOMETHING IN HER TREE. I DIDN'T UNDERSTAND WHY HE GOT SO TICKED BECAUSE HE WAS SO FAR IN THE HOLE A COON WOULD NOT HELP HIM. DREW THAT SAME DOG A FEW TIMES AND NEVER SEEN HER UNDER A COON.

All u High-Morals handlers that are jumping-on brogy, JiM, & a few others that share their view(MYSELF included!), I'll make a bet with u. Those of u that actually go to Nite Hunts, that as long as you are all truly as "fair & honest" as u claim to be, I'll bet any amount of $$$ u'd like, that u would be treated a hell-of-alot, more fairly, & get more help looking for your coon from Brogy & JiM, than u'll EVER get from most of the "honest" folks included in that 90% showing on this pole. I'd be willing to bet u $1,000 to a sack of manure that I'm right, & I've never been in the woods with either of them.

Grandpa always said, the man who's telling u how honest/religious he is, will always be the first one to break-it off in u, for sure & for certain! Ya know, Grandpa must have been pretty sharp, 'cause I have yet to see that little slice of his wisdom proved wrong.

I think I'll let y'all have this thread, 'cause the Bull####'s about to get over my hipboots, & I feel like it ain't done rising yet!

Why even ask the question? I'm sure he's been around the hunts long enough that your question has been answered many times over. I get the feeling the only reason for asking is so you can accuse him with either answer.

Tom Wingfield knows the answer to how honest I am. He bought a young Plott dog from me off here and over the phone a few years ago.

I sold her at a fair price and described her exactly as she was. He called back more than once and told me she was a much better dog than I described and I think he said "he would have paid double what he did for her".

I'm not worrying about him questioning my honesty. He knows firsthand that I'm honest as it gets.

I'll help find any dog's coon whether its yours or mine. The only people I won't help are a$$holes. If you want to act like an a$$hole, don't expect any help from me. Simple as that.

YOU WELL ALREADY NEW WHERE WE STAND, OTHERS DID'NT.YOUR ATTITUDE WAS MUCH DIFFERENT BACK THEN ...I THINK IF YOU WILL REMEMBER AFTER YOU TOLD ME HOW YOU HAD BEEN DONE AND TREATED WHILE HUNTING OPHIA, I TOLD YOU I USE TO HUNT IN THE HUNTS . JUDGED & GUIDED, AFTER I STOPPED HUNTING IN THEM, YEARS AGO WHEN I HUNTED IN THEM IT WAS'NT THE WAY SOME HUNTERS HAVE MADE IT NOW... CHEATERS WHERE FEW AND TOP DOG MEN WERE MANY...WHEN SOMEONE WANTS TO COME RIGHT OUT IN THE OPEN AND TELL YOU ON HERE HE IS GONA LIE OR CHEAT YA AND OTHERS ARE NOT GONA STAND UP FOR WHAT IS RIGHT INCLUDING ..UKC. PKC. OR AKC..HAVE AT IT BOYS YOU AINT LOSEING A THING THAT MEANS A DAM TO YA ANY HOW., IT REALLY SADDENS ME AND PUTS ANOTHER BLACK MARK AGAINST THE SPORT OF HOUND HUNTING THAT I HAVE LOVED AND BEEN A BIG PART OF MY 67 YRS.... A CHEATER CAN GET BEAT BY A CHEATER... BUT I AM HERE TO TELL YA IT TAKES A BETTER DOG TO BEAT A WINNER...THAT IS THE VERY REASON THE FIRST COMPATION HUNT EVER HAPPENED TO FIND THE BEST DOG NOT THE SLICKEST HANDLER..... GOOD LUCK MARC MY FRIEND...TOM

Tom,
My roots and values have not changed. My approach has changed a little. I still get run over my share, I've cost my hounds several wins because I didn't want to be viewed as a jerk, when if I would have been a little more assertive I'd probably have taken home a winslip but I feared it would damage my reputation even if it was just in the eyes of someone that did me wrong. But I had a bad experience at the UKC World Hunt Semi-finals a 3 years ago and that did change my approach a little bit. It wasn't by fellow cast members but by UKC. I'm not going to take anything I don't have coming and I can tell you accounts of how I've turned down some opportunities to cheat that no one else would have known about, but I'm not going to let someone take what I do have coming either.
Like I said like 10 times now, I will work as hard as anyone to help score every tree honestly. I believe in treating others like I would like to be treated, regardless if we're talking personal relationships, co-workers, coonhunting or breeding dogs. When someone else wants to take a different approach than that, I'll give them a dose of the same treatment they're giving others. I won't cheat anyone and never have. But if you don't want to shine my tree or someone else's, you're going to have to find your own coon and show it to me. I'm not going to find it for you.
If you see that has cheating, that's your opinion. You point out which rule that is violating and I'll agree. I can't think of more than 1-2 casts in my years of hunting where I went home wishing I would have handled things differently and I had my reasons for those as well.
