Ike heres a nice little gip owned by Todd Smith of New York she is a keeper wish I owned her she is 2 yrs. old.

Eddie,

We were not able to take that bear because we only had a pursuit license, but he'd been a Boone & Crockett Bear.

And you're not stealing my post, as I enjoy looking at your photos and hearing about those dogs as well as telling about mine.

So where are you located? have to go look can't remember? Nevertheless I get stuck out West, have family in the midwest and most the rest out West. But if the sun, the moon and the stars line up maybe I'll get back your way?

Bear and big game application time coming up this month, been under the weather and not been able to hunt recently, but I hope to change that. But truth is I'm ready for the snow and ice to leave and the dirt to fluff up, then I'll hit the hills as much as possible.

Eddie,

I've been on a scanning project and have boxes full of slides that I have digitizing for file. These are two images I ran into last night from a roll of slide film I took of my blue Ryan dog in a tree with a really nice tom lion (one of those dogs that goes back to Slew and then further to that SueSue female you had. I do not know anything about that blood being tied up all over the Basin as Greg Anderson had told you, and matter fact I have the only two dogs that I know of left from that line of Freston's that went back to Slew. I do have three adults dogs out of Ryan though and they are running hard in my pack for lions and bears today..........

Yeah, thats me I dont know nothing about them dogs, oneday Greg said they were tied up from Vernal to Roosvelt maybe he didnt know what he was talking about.He said the hills were full.

You had ask where I lived Im in Muncie,In 60 miles north of Indy & 70 miles south of Ft Wayne,IN & 35 miles from the Ohio line.

Im 6 miles south of Muncie out in the country.Hope u can make it back here,looks like that ol line of dogs produced for ya'll.

Nice looking English hound also.

Hey just a few coons my son killed with these young dogs this winter we sure had a TUFF ONE one of the worst I can ever remember as far a snow coming early & just staying on,we sold these coons today.

Hope your getting over the flu thats no fun having to lay around & do nothing.

PS that Black & White Dog that like to climb I've seen several that were like that & I never knew how to stop it because I sure would have if I just would have known how.She was also a fine looking hound.

Redman,

That's a mess of coon there and your son and those red dogs did a fine job! Hard to do anything about a tree climber, just gotta love'em and enjoy them while you have them I guess...............I'm getting better but still not ready to go climb the mountains in the sub-zero weather.



Here is an older photo I found of a nice tom lion a friend and I ran down for him to take with a bow back in the day. That red dog there is my Copper dog, the one I always referred to as LionHeart. This is one of the tom lions she treed alone, and then we fed other dogs into the tree. It was a nine or ten hour deal on a blown in snow track, and she needed a little help from the old man at one point where the track was blown plum shut across a huge flat--we couldn't even see the track. I got a line on the tom and took her over to the rim of the next canyon, then hiked along it until she struck and game on..........

My blue Ryan dog was a yearling on this hunt and did not finish the track with LionHeart, as the blown in cold track was just over the head of most any yearling I've ever hunted.

I wrote a story for Bowhunter Magazine on the deal.........

A photo of my old LionHeart dog in a crack with a monster tom lion. If there was ever a hound that favored cats over bears this was one of those dogs, and when she got after a lion or bobcat they better know how to hold their scent..........

My Kody dog, a six year old hound out of Ryan who is as near a clone of him as a dog could be.

Hi Eddie, I've been out of town the past couple weekends and hopefully have settled in and life will get back to normal. This photo is of my Kody dog who came from that blue Ryan dog of mine--the one that went back to Slew and SueSue. Gonna make a couple crosses out of him in the coming weeks and hope they will be good ones. Kody trails, rigs, runs and trees just like his old man; he also has the distinction of never missing a bear tree if he was in on the run and the bear was caught.......

Hey Im sorry I have'nt found those papers yet Ive been having health trouble & just have'nt felt like finding them in 30 yrs. of things Ive kept from these hounds but dont give up on me my word is good just having a tuff time rite now.Hope to get back on my feet soon I go back to the Doctor Thursday.

Sorry to hear that you are having health issues and hope things get better for you soon. And don't give those papers a second thought, some day if you get the time or feel up to it go ahead and look but only if things line up for you.

I've been working my hounds a little and have got back to hunting lions a little. We have a big spring planned on lions and bears as well. My son brought his two, two year old red dogs over and I have plenty of experience and youth to follow. I'll post up as time permits........

Good luck on your cross ! I hate to tell someone I'll do something & not do it I sure hope they have not been put in the trash becaure I did swee them sometime ago.

So they say they give me two yrs. to live back in May last year hope to prove them wrong,my hearth is in bad shape to many allnighters coon hunting & NO SLEEP.

Ive went threw several boxs but have not found them papers I'll keep looking when Im able.
